TIRE/WHEEL PROTECTION

Anybody go for this extra protection package? How much did you pay? Is it worth the $$$?

I did it was 5.99 per month. After finding out about the tires cracking in cold weather and living in a cold state I thought it would be prudent. Covers all 4 tires and wheels. ANY roadhazard life of tire and wheel.

it is just one replacement per tire. For instance, say you get a nail in your front left tire and get it replaced via the tire/wheel replacement system. Now a year down the road you get another nail in your front left tire. Does this already replaced tire get replaced again?

The warranty I purchased covers the car. So for me the answer is; yes the 2nd tire would be replaced again. Same for the rims. If I replace my tires due to wear the new ones will be covered till the warranty period expires.

The warranty I bought has a $5k maximum payout. If I reach $5k and something else happens, it is on me basically.

It covers tire replacement only if it has like 2/32" or more on the tire and rim replacement only if it is beyond repair. I do not remember if it covers curb damage, but I am thinking it doesn't.

I paid like $300 or something for it out of pocket. It is good for 5 years/100k miles (matches power train warranty) and it is transferable if I did sell the car.

If the warranty you bought that covers the car is the bumper to bumper it does not cover the wheels and tires. That's what Becky@rodgerschevrolet told me. Therefore I also purchased the wheel and tire warranty from her for around 445 with a max of 7500 payout for 60 months 75,000 miles. Most of the bumper to bumpers do not cover normal wearables, like tires (from normal wear) brake pads and wiper refills.

Mine does not cover curb damage unless the wheel/tire can't hold air.

I purchased it I believe I paid $700 and its good for 5 years. The cost to replace one wheel and tire would pay for it.

I bought a 2013 Dusk Edition yesterday with the 21" wheels. I bought the Road Hazard warranty for $362 for 5 yr/100,000 miles. I should have tried to get it cheaper now that I think about it.

However, just 1 tire from Tirerack.com is well over $700 and who knows how much the wheels would cost to replace.

This is one product that all Camaro owners should consider. Like any insurance policy it is best to read the actual contract prior to signing it. Some of these policies have an aggregate or a max pay out. The aggregate can be yearly or a total dollar amount for the contract period. They have policies that do cover cosmetic damage do to "curbing" but make sure that they will replace rather than repair. Also like most warranties the Tire/Wheel insurance may have a “like quality and kind” clause where the contract may substitute remanufactured wheels or an aftermarket replacement.
I have found that the cheaper the product price the less the insurance policy covers.
So consider what you are buying with regard to coverage and make your decision based on claims probability and your driving habits.
Although most of these policies are worthwhile and I have purchased one for my Z, not all of them are created equal.

Regards,

Charlie

Is this offered from GM or the dealer? I was not offered anything when I bought my car so was thinking I might purchase it now if possible.
