If I swap my cats for off road test pipes, and don't tune, can I just clear the code and not worry about anything? Or will the code constantly come back? And if it does, is that fine?

I think it will keep coming on. It needs to be turned off on the tune.

I don't know the Maryland inspection rules but in PA and Texas if you go in for inspection and the computer has recently been reset they will make you come back after the computer has had enough cycle to run a complete diagnostic and that will be enough time for the code to come back.

CT is the same way. It'll fail that particular system if not in the "ready" state.

Well I'm not tuning and I don't have to go in for emissions for a while. When that comes, I'll just swap the test pipes for the cats

I do not know what part of PA you are from but here in cambria county we only have a visual inspection. They also like to charge you for the gas cap test.

yeah you just get the CEL saying basically that your rear 02 readings are out of range. the rear 02's are not for tuning though.

Yeah...it's going to smell like a 69 Camaro with a out of tune QuadraJet Carb.

I would hold off on this until your ready for long tubes with Hi-Flow Cats.
Your not going to see any real performance benefit anyway.....just a stink that actually gets in your clothes...
