110 Miles per Gallon!!!

Yes its a mustang but check this out...

There's a vid on the right side of the page.

To find the future of the auto industry, Doug Pelmear looked to the past.

The Napoleon mechanic says he's perfected an engine developed by his grandfather 60-years ago--an engine that gives his 1987 mustang 110-miles to the gallon.

"My grandfather had the idea back in the 40's that he can make a difference then," Pelmear says, "There was quite a need at that time also with the war going on and everything, there was quite the need then." And quite a need now.

So, Pelmear says, he wants to market his invention to save the U.S. auto industry.

"This'll bring back the automotive industry when they can sell trucks and SUVs' and the models that are almost dead at this time," Pelmear says. And the Mustang is no slacker, either. Pelmear says it goes 0-60mph in a neck snapping three seconds, and has a top speed of about 180 m.p.h.

"Even those of us who grew up in the muscle car age, this will pretty much blow your muscle car away," developer Mark Schnitkey says with a grin.

While Pelmear won't let us look under the hood, he says the technology can easily be applied to smaller engines for even better gas mileage. He's entering the car in the prestigious Progressive Automotive X competition; a race where inventors from around the world compete for the best mileage with a car that is the most marketable. Pelmear says, his technology is very marketable because it will allow people to drive large cars and SUV's without sacrificing gas mileage.

Rocket Ventures, a subsidiary of the Regional Growth Partnership of Toledo, tested the car, and business development manager Todd Davies says, Pelmear's claims seem to be true.

I'm curious to know what this technology is that he can't show it...must not be something that we currently have? Maybe a turbo powering a battery or electric motor instead of force feeding more power? I don't know but it looks interesting, if you get any further info please post it!

I think he didn't show it cus he's in that Progressive Automotive X competition. He probably didn't want to give up the goods.

My guess is he's messing with the gas/ethanol mixture to get better mpg as part of his system...

That is an interesting guess. So the turbo would act like a generator instead of a "fan"?

Remeber it has to be technology that is over 60 years old. Do you think E65 was around back then?

Sounds like he's mixing gas with snake oil. For those that don't know how to make snake oil, you mix one part snake guts with 3 parts bull$*!t lol

Here's a comment from that link.

I saw an E85 sticker on the car. E85 contains 85% Ethanol, and 15% Gasoline. A lot of new cars are able to run on E85. Old cars like his, have to be adjusted in order to run on E85. I bet you he counts only the 15% Gasoline to come up with 110 mpg. My car runs on E85. If I only count the Gasoline part in my tank, I get 190 mpg.

So, the Fish Carburetor makes a comeback? Or is it fuel line magnets?

Yes. E100 was too. It used to just be called moonshine, and it ran in cars as well as people. The Model T was designed to run on gasoline and/or ethanol.

110 miles per gallon...0 to 60 in 3 seconds...and 180 top speed...
He found a lithium-hydro powerplant from a downed alien spaceship and retro-fitted it to a 87 Mustang
