Man, you guys are putting a lot down and still will have large payments! I'm not going to have anything to put down as I will be paying on my credit cards for the next few years that I built up going to school the past 3 years. I was hoping to get a couple grand out of my nissan on trade-in and would like the payments to be no more than 400/month for the base V8 with very few options if any. I may have to do an 84 month loan or something. If not I may have to wait 2 years until my car is paid off...

Welllll, depending on what the price ranges are going to be, I'll go for the entry level v-8 and put 20k +/- and go for a three year loan.

I plan on getting a base v8 (god I hope its an LS3...)
I'm looking at trading in my stang, and putting down 3-3.5k cash, so thats around 17k, maybe a little more depending on what they give me for the mustang.

I don't know what ya'll are doing (in life) to be able to put down those figures,...

My goal is $2-3k, perhaps even $5k. I'm a father of three kids and an E5 in the Navy. I already have a $1k CD growing (compound interest), and will purchase another CD during my next deployment. I also bought a $1k savings bond, ($500 actual paid) but it won't mature fully until 2013. I can cash it in early, which I'll most likely do, so I'm hoping to get at least $800 out of it come 2010 (or 2011). Figure I can save up a few bucks here and there, I just might have $3k to put down.

So what does everyone think the HiPo version will run? LSA/or supercharged LS3, fully loaded, pretty well every option except under-coating?

Well, my estimate is assuming an approximate price of $35,000 for a loaded base V8 (it's about where the Mustang is when loaded up).

So even if I put $15,000 down that's still $20,000+taxes. Which would be a payment of over $400 per month for 5 years.

If the Camaro comes in cheaper, great. But I'm not getting my hopes up for something I doubt will happen.

Saving $1000 from my tax return each year since Jan '06, putting away bits of money here and there, $1000 from my mother for getting rid of an old Z34 I have kept at her place, $5000 from my dad if I can net $5000 in overtime at work by next March...

Working for the New Jersey Department of Corrections has it's perks. LOL

Well considering you already dive a brand new CTS, putting down $40k is like me buying two packs of cigarettes instead of one,...

I gotta find out how much I can get for my family on the black market first....but seriously we just found out my wife is pregnant again with our second child, and I'm only an E3 in the Air Force, E4 by the time the Maro roles out....I guess I will have to wait an extra year or two...

Any chance of an SRB? esp. if you re-up somwhere like Bahrain (taxfree)
-my nephew just signed up to get 75k (6 more years) now if I can talk him into buying a new Z/28 and 'storing' it at my house while he is on the ship.......

Hopefully I will be able to make a down payment (like 10.000 or something) by March 2009 and get the basic V6.

I have never bought a car, so this will be my first "big" purchase...

I was thinking about setting up a savings account (only have a regular student bank acc at the moment, not a student anymore though) and put like $400 every month in there right away.

Ideas are appreciated
