Dealer Installed Stripes

Went to a Camaro unveiling in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. and saw the rally stripes the dealer installed on a red SS. The stripes had bubbles and creases in them (scary job). BE AWARE this place does not know how to do this!!

The things is, if you go with the dealer ones they are under warranty and have to redo them till they get it right. The warranty last 3 years. The ones you buy from GM on your own I believe they do not replace them if the installer messed up. I also believe they are limited to a 1 year warranty.

Yep! So are mine! My dealer said "we don't have anyone that is trained to put the stripes on". The dealers are going to have to fix many of these.

If you are installing them outside the dealer, I would say have the installer make them for you. This way they can re-cut if they have issues!

I'm having mine scanned first, if the dealer messes them up, they gotta replace them til it's right, but I figure I'd have a spare set, plus I want to compare the flat factory ones to shiney ones.

Mine is going to be the guinea pig for the dealer. I trust them. Reputable dealer, warranted and my guy is RPO Z28. He said he will prob do it. I trust him. Spent a good hour at dealership talking to him yesterday. My order is being pulled on the 20th.

My thought was that getting as much done at the "factory" as possible would ultimately bring the most value 25 years from now... I am a stock kinda guy, so if it's not an option for the car then I won't have it on my Baby. I am adding the cold-air intake and the catback exhaust, which are being done at the dealer, but everything else happens north of the border.

I told my son the car would be his in 30 years or in my will, perish the thought, but only on the condition the car never be sold and never be altered. Pure stock!

We will have to do a step by step photo essay.

Yikes! The pressure!
