i have a 2012 camaro convt.the top wont go down but i can here the motor working whwn i press the button to raise the top.
the book list 2 fuses for the top.but the location is not right.
says passg.side trunk????

After you tun the handle to release the top, push up on the front edge of the top to make sure it is free of the windshield then try it.
Do you see any warning messages on the DIC?

The first time I put my top down it was at the dealer and he gave me the basics.

about a week later there was a break in the winter weather and it was like +5 out so i chanced it and went to put the top down. I went over the things the deal told me but when I pressed my button, nothing happened. Just heard the vert top moter running. The only thing was two little "icons" but no messages. So I did a double check.

The car was in park, the hand brake on (not needed) but just making sure. The trunk lid was closed tight. Still nothing.

I opened the trunk and then I remembered that bar/rod thing in the trunk. It was not pulled forward. I pulled it forward and locked it into place.

BINGO!

Top went down. I must have unlatched it when I was doing some Christmas shopping and forgot to put it back.

Hope this helps. Unless this bar is pulled back like in the picture below, the roof will not go down. At least it won't on my 2011.

If the protective net in the trunk is retracted, the top will not go down. You might check to see if it's pulled out all the way.

Yes, but when the safety net is not in the correct position the convertible motor doesn't start.

O.P stated he hears the motor whine.

Make sure the latch /hooks are completely free of the windshield. If the latches don't disengage properly, it may be a fitment/alignment issue.
And yes.. take it to the dealer.

great help but all is correct,unlatched,cargo net pulled,top not latched,could one of two fuse blowen???

keep in mind there's a temp lock, below the mid 30's the top Will Not go down.

Correct, but like the cargo net, the motor doesn't run with the lockout activated.

I doubt it's a fuse. Likely a fried relay.

If the window shade in the trunk is not in position, the DIC will indicate 'Top not Secure'

Sounds funny, but don't forget to lower the top release and then twist it to release. First time for me I forgot to twist it when trying to lock the top back closed! :eek:
