Fastlane CAI + A6 HPTune = half-second gain
My second run at Steele, AL - Alabama International Dragway.
New best: 12.761 @ 109.38 (with new CAI and A6 HPTune). Previous best: 13.224 @ 106.76 with Cat-back only (Borla Touring). Only changes: CAI (Fastlane Pipeline 4") and my own custom A6 tune with HP Tuners. No other mods to PE, VE, or spark (or anything motor). Best run: Sixty: 1.942 (stock 20" PZeros at 27psi) 1/8: 8.282 MPH: 86.98 1/4: 12.761 MPH: 109.38 Overcast in the 40'sF at Steele, good track prep. I figure the CAI was worth 2/10ths, the A6 HPTune 2/10ths, and the weather 1/10th. Guessing, of course. The car chirped the 1-2 shift, so you can see how much the A6 tune helped. It was almost too good a tune for the launch. My DR's are in the mail. The A6 tune was NOT radical. I did not turn off everything, but most of it cut by 50% or so. It drives around town well. On the way to the track, I got 22mpg. On the way back with the stock tune reinstalled, I got 21mpg (250+ mile round trip, all highway). I really like the quality of the Fastlane Pipeline 4" CAI. I've used a down-and-out intake on my GTO, and I feel that and the 4" really make a difference. Video: Inside video (hung my ipod from the sunroof): Timeslip. 1000 miles on the odo. Fun day! Tentative mods in the coming days: Shorties/Midpipes, UDPulley/EWP, 18"rims/DR's, 3.45's/2800TC. I was pleased. Next time up, deeper into the 12's. Padre

Great runs yesterday. I just wish that my car would complete the 1-2 shift on time.

Great runs for only a few basic mods.
According to Dragtimes calculator the DA was a negative -921 ft. That's pretty awesome. But its still not as good as some of the crazy ATCO DA's we see. Based on my homemade formula, +/- 1000' of DA is equal to around .15 sec. So you can use that to compare it with your previous run. So if the DA was around 0 ft your last trip to the track, I'd say the weather was worth about .1 or a little more. So your gains are really good. |

But then plugging it into the Dragtime Corrector is screwy. It shows ETs getting quicker at higher DA's. My DA calculations show a 0.05 difference in ET from my last run to this one, but I'll call it one-tenth. I've got some ideas about the shift tuning. That 1-2 chirp really intrigued me. Padre |
