3.93's or 4.10?

I have a '15 SS M6. I believe the stock gears are 3.45. Is there a big difference going from stock to 3.93 or should I go with the 4.10's? I have a vert which is a bit heavier so I think a new set of gears will help a lot.

Yes it is a big difference! I have the stock gear in my 1le and think it is perfect IMO 4.10 might be a too little steep

I am pushing about 300lb more that the hard tops. That's why I was thinking 4.10.

Go with the 4.10. It will still get up to 45MPH in 1st and 4th will top at ~136 (with stock diameter tires).

If you are going for the 1/4 even the 3.91 will require a shift to 4th, so...

weight isn't an issue...gearing should be aligned with expectations and use...which ever you choose will require a tune..I choose the 3.91 only because they are made by AAM(OEM) and that allowed me to do the swap myself...non oem gears will require much more setup/install work...I could have gone with the 4.10's but am very pleased with what I have now...good luck!

In my M6, I went with a 3.91 stock gear from the 1LE and had it installed at the dealer several years ago and haven't had any issues. It woke it up quite a bit prior to the engine build. If you aren't going to add a lot of power mods, it could be worth it to go 4.10s for the acceleration but it will raise your highway cruise revs in 6th gear a bit. First gear will seem much shorter. As it stands now, first can be a handful and I can break the rear loose in 2nd and 3rd above 3k if I hit it too hard. Overall I'm happy with the 3.91 choice. Either way, you can't really go wrong since it will make a big difference in acceleration.

*When I made the choice to use the 3.91 from GM, it was considered the safest bet since they were the 1LE gear. Some folks were experiencing failures of aftermarket gears which could have been due to manufacturer quality issues, very sticky tires, and/or too much power being applied.

The 1LE will not be the same as an SS. All the transmission ratios, except 4th, are different, and tires are smaller.
