LSA, LS7, LS9 for the New 2011 Z28

Take a guess on which engine for Z28 and your reasons why

I think by the time the Z28 comes out, the LS7 will be on its way out.

Neither, if it happens it is more likely to get an LS8 and be around 475-500 hp. LS7 is already as good as gone.

I believe I remember reading LS2 and LS7 are as good as gone, just like what has already been mentioned.

I could see an LS8 but can't, in my mind, rationalize why they would have another supercharged 6.2. It seems to me that LS9 and LSA are perfect candidates for top-performing models, so why not use at least the LSA, for more platforms? It's already a seemingly known commodity for GM and has spanked at the 'Ring, so why not bump up the Z06's power from 505 to 550 and similar for a Z28, or what have you? It just doesn't seem likely that GM will stuff a heavier engine in the Z06 with less power, hence my humble opinion on the LSA.

Death of the LS7 is confirmed by GM.

I'm with Radz, LSA, even detuned, makes more sense. No need for another blown 6.2 with the HiPo market shrinking.

WTF?! LT5?! Now that's a unique suggestion. Sheet; I think THAT engine weighs more than even the LS9/LSA with the superchargers and plumbing. God; I think that option added a few hundred pounds, just for the engine, didn't it? I know larger wheels, brakes, quarter panels and rear bumper accounted for additional weight, but that's still a great suggestion I wouldn't but one, but that's a cool idea, IMHO.

Now... a DI 427 is a different story. I'd be all over that like stink on sheet; moreso than a SC'd 6.2. Nice...

the LS7 is already on it's way out the door. and I believe that the Gen V engine wouldn't make it out in time to be put in a Z28 (if the Z bows by 2012). So the LSA looks great. . .

All "Z28 is dead" posts and their replies have been removed. The appropriate thread is certainly not going to become a dumping ground for this stuff, and I won't close this thread.

Sorry to everyone involved.

No apology needed.

Since you're plugged in like the matrix, can you delete it from my memory also? No, really, like from my brain? Seriously, can you?

^Best of both worlds? Not a bad idea.

Unfortunately I've heard the same thing. The LS7 is not long for this world. But the LSA and LS9 are perfect candidates for powering new camaros and Corvettes. 550 hp with a nominal weight gain? Like maybe 50 pounds, if that... Any weight gain sucks, but seriously.. another 50 horses and 80 lb-ft. That extra torque will offset that no problem.
