The last review that I found (on here somewhere), they were about equal (including the stock unit). The after market units simply "look" better. Power was equal, or at least close enough to not make a difference.

Looked at one of these today, K&N Typhoon and the other generic K&N for the SS Camaro. I've seen YT vids of people having a slight increase in HP along with about 4 MPG improvement. I don't have this in my own experience, but this is what I've read.

Got to go along with Jim
I installed an Airaid and it looks cool but have not noticed any change in power, or even the mass sucking sound some have claimed to hear. Would I do it again, probably, but only for esthetics.

After researching on here and other web sites, I went with Roto-fab. There were virtually no complaints on them, and my performance shop liked them, too. The final factor is I am starting to dress up the engine bay with a black and red theme. Roto-fab had a black and red CAI. They are also a sponsor on here and I got a good deal.
I put on the CAI and Corsa exhaust at the same time. I did not dyno the car, but I'm getting an additional 2 mpg on the highway.

Fastlane, more complicated but provides the most hp gains around 15hp. and then CAI at about 10hp. JRE provided a study on this last summer.
I had the Fastlane before I had the ProCharger installed.

From the reading I've done there are 3 that are the most popular, in no particular order.
C.A.I Inc / Vararam / Roto-fab The only drawback of Vararam IMO is that you have to tilt the radiator back to install it. Having said that it apparently yields more power than the others. Do a search on those companies, even check the vendor section and you'll find plenty of pictures.

I don't understand why they cost so much. For such a small benefit the price should be less.
