Going to be very difficult to get grip with a 300 tread wear rating street tire. You're probably going to need MT ET Street Drag Radials at the minimum, and with the M6 that may still not be soft enough. Somebody will chime in that races a 1LE, my car is an A6 with a 3.91 rear gear an grip was impossible on street tires and difficult on both the 555R and 05R Nitto Drag radials. However, MT ET Streets drag radials would dead hook.

Even with Luanch control?
I thought that was supposed to eliminate slip and guarantee hooking?

I have 295 Super pilot sports and love them for the street but they are as useless as any other street tire on the drag strip. The easiest and most inexpensive route it to get some C6/Z06 replicas, (Have to tie back the e-brake cable) and either M/T ET streets or I have had good luck on NT05r's. (Do not get 555r's!) Heat up em good and let it rip

If this is similar to traction control on the A6, it will cost a lot of time on the timeslip vs: a tire that dead hooks. Most A6 guys run with TC off.

Never ever use the launch control at the track. It's fun on the street and makes you look like a champ but it's worthless on the track. You will need better tires but for now..lower you pressure to 19-20, get rpms to about 2000 to 2500, slip the clutch and be easy on the throttle at first.

Launch control rips off at 4500 rpm and doesn't stop you from spinning. Turn off all the nannies and learn the balance of the clutch and throttle for launching at the track. There re all is no secret. If you have the money for a set of drag radials I'd say pick up a set of mickey thompson et and some 18x9.5 or 18x10 corvette rims to fit them on.
