Silverado? RAM?

I'm going to be buying a new daily driver soon. I have been toying with the idea of buying my first truck. I am a chevy guy and in my life I have been a very brand loyal person. So obviously, I have been looking into the Silverado 1500 Z71.

Well, today while cruising the local auto mall, on a whim, I decided to check out the Dodges. And I have to say. The new RAM sport 1500 is a nice truck. It really makes the Silverado seem dated. And it seems like you get a bit more for the money.

But wow, I feel like I'm cheating on a girlfriend even being on the lot. I don't know how I'd feel driving an brand new dodge, while calling my self a Chevy guy....

The GMT-900 Silverado has been around since 2007. It is fairly dated by today's standards, although the HDs are still best in class.

K2XXs in 2013.

I knew you'd chime in Fen! I dont think my daily driver will last until 2013. In fact, I'm sure it wont. I wish the K2XX was a little closer. I have no doubt that will be a nice truck!

Don't know what I'm going to do....

Shank0668, yes 5.7L Hemi is standard on Sport models. With cylinder deactivation, I believe EPA rating is 20MPG highway.

Honestly unless you were looking for an HD, I wouldn't blame you for going to Ford or Ram.

Unfortunately the bankruptcy pushed the full size truck programs back a year...

Regardless of the fact that my father just purchased a 2012 silverado, Some of my best buddies purchased the Ram have not liked them. They have been into the shop multiple times under warranty and, for some reason, burn oil when trailering a load.

the rams were always the best looking trucks in my opion but the coil spring rear suspension on them aint really the best if you plan on towing and hauling alot with it

I drove a Silverado for 7 years. Bought it new in late 04 (it's was an 05) and drove it for nearly 130000 miles. Not one single problem with that truck in all those miles. I did regular maintenance and used only Mobil 1 Sythentic Oil in it and it didn't burn any oil in 6000 mile oil change intervals even when I traded it. Shocks, brakes, plug wires, cap rotor, oil, filters, trans change and filter, and that was it. That was the best truck I have ever owned and compared to others I know with Fords and Dodges, my cost of ownership, even with quality oils and parts was FAR less. I'd find a good used Silverado if I were you that you could drive for a few years until the new Silverado's come out and get through the first year bugs.

Our 05 doesn't have the cylinder deactivation, so pretty much 11 city 16 highway

Thats funny you compared the two, because i am currently in the process of leasing a new truck, and ive always loved the dodge ram and you can get much more options on the ram for lower price than the chevy, Plus to me the Ram sits much higher than the chevy pu trucks, a buddy of mine has a 2010 Chevy 2500Hd and another has a 1500 ram and the ram is the same size as the 2500.

Im just waiting on a great lease deal and that will be my final decision maker. Right now nothing much on Ram, i missed the great deal 2 months ago but chevy has the all start edition for no money down 38 month lease, thats a sweet truck

Yea the ram u can get a better price for more options and more powerful engines and it looks better and the warranty on the powertrain is kinda the same as Gm as well. test drive both and see what deals u can work out and pick the best for u. I know the Ram express is a great deal as well.

I love the 1500 Sport from Dodge. But they are one of the higher priced trucks from dodge,

I test drove a 2011 Dodge Ram SLT Outdoorsman editon and that truck is MINT....fully loaded, navsunroof, oversive tires, two tone paint, park assist, and body colored grille. The difference with the sport and an SLT is that the sport has the body colored bumpers with the intergrated dual exhaust where as the SLT has the chrome bumpers with the single tip, (unless you get the SLT Big Horn, that has dual)
