3.) LS9:ZR1 as LSA:CTS-V as LS7:Z06?
yet everyone wants an LSA/9
LS7 is lighter, and might cost less? Cut out possible GG tax, lighten the front up, pedders suspension with better tires and higher than bottom shelf brembo brakes.
Could be a track monster right from the dealer and not be as high of a premium.
The ls7 cylinder walls are too thin. . .why go backwards in time? why limit yourself to how much modding you can do with FI or nitrous? hmmm. . .guess you're stuck on an engine that is awesome in it's own right but not what the masses want and not what a true racer wants. . .

Not sure if it has already been stated... this thread is growing too fast... but as far as timing, the release of the Z28 in 2012 would be the 45th anniversary of the Camaro and what a great way to celebrate.

You know at this point with the Boss 302 Mustang being a sure thing, It would be cool for GM to just call this car Camaro SS SuperCharged and then still work on a real corner carving 1LE car like the Z/28 really WAS and call that a Z/28.

I am sure the price will be 49,998 and go up from there to the GT500 loaded price of 57,700.

I also dont see any way for the car to come in less than 3960 manual to just over 4,000 for an auto.

There are hundreds, of LS7s running FI or nitrous. If you think you are limited on modding an LS7 you are horribly mistaken. The LS7 can easily be rebooted as the end date closes in.
I guess people would rather have a heavier LSA that is already pushing its limits in stock form? You dont have to make the most power to go fast.

I bet that would get crapped on. 1967 to 2002 + 2010 to 2012 = 45

I guess but not really, that would be like Pontiac having a anniversary of the GTO in 2004.

Well, most of the exterior changes are under the camo. And you can't see under the hood or any suspension changes. So hardly anyone can actually spot the changes which have been made

SS+supercharger is not the same as a Z28.

I don't see anyone overly excited about the looks. And styling isn't what makes a Z28 special. People are excited about simply seeing the high performance monster.

Sure looks like you can:

You are right, but GM chose the 6.2 for the ZR1 to have that 100,000 mile durability that people expect with a new car.

Yes you can boost the LS7 just like people have 700hp LS3 Camaro's on here. Do you really think those stock bottom end cars will last 100,000 miles?

The LS7 would be great as is but for boost the 6.2 is a better engine.

They had 35th anniversary Camaro SS's in 2002 but there hadn't been 35 years of continuous Camaro SS production.

one really interesting fact to consider is that the genV small block should be coming a lot sooner than later. I understand no matter what the case of the base V8 for the 5thgen utilizing this nex gen small block it will have a far lower output than the LSA, but what does this mean for the LSA's future? surely improvements will be made to upgrade power on the genV rather soon after its release.

My thoughts:

1: Automatic: Awesome. (I am of course assuming that it is the auto out of the CTS-V, on account of that combo is already certified and will save money) The slushbox out of the CTS-V is an amazing piece of work, and unless you are more or less an expert at rowing the gears (Which I am not, as is evidenced by me 1/4 mile times) it will be faster than the manual every time.

2: Warranty and resale/ colectible value: THIS is why I want a Z. Factory warranty and factory original for collectors value later on in life.
Yeah, you can make your SS faster, but 40 years from now, at Barret Jackson, mine will sell for more.

3: Front Facia: Nice. I knew that the front grill of the Leno car was WAY to nice to be a 'one off' and I said so when the car was first shown.

4: Quad Exhaust: Others have said it, and I will echo them. A 'Dual Mode' Exhaust like on the Vettes would be awesome, also a factor in bumping the HP up on the LSA.

5: Stance: Definately something going on with this vehicle, suspension wise. I am hoping for the Mag Shocks, so that the ride quality can be somewhat liveable on a longer drive, and with a flick of the switch, you have a handling monster. I don't know if I would go on long road trips with the Z anyways, but I would like the option without having to bring a chiropractor with me.

What's the deal with the brakes again? Are the front ones from the CTS-V, back ones from the SS?

I guess im just in the minority that wants the Z28 to be NA with the best suspension and brakes available...and a different interior...whatever it will look like.
