L99 VVT Vs. Non-VVT Engine Dyno Sheet!

This is the perfect comparison for you guys.

This is comparing the exact same camshaft with VVT & without VVT (camshaft left at +3)
This easily shows how the VVT allows us to advance additional down low & then pull the advance out in upper rpm making a much better powerband.

This is a perfect example of why you dont want to delete VVT. Checkout the low rpm & upper rpm gains!!

I think they already have a way to do it or are working on it.

Awesome Jason! This is really good info. Thanks for posting. I`m going the blower route this time around, so I won`t need a cam on this car, want to stay underr 600rwhp to the tire, to save the driveline, but once the car is paid for and I want to build a motor, I will definetly be looking at a VVT cam.

Will having VVT active improve driveability/smooth out surging on a somewhat agressive cam? Or will a somewhat lumpy cam still be lumpy with VVT?

It is a very complicated process... the process can be summed up in these steps:

1. bolt transmission to engine
2. smoke a doob

note that step 2 requires at least four highly trained, certified, German automotive engineers - not for the novice by any means.

Make sure you have enough doobs though.

Seriously though, that's really it, it's just like bolting it to a non-vvt engine... same exact thing. People come up with all the reasons in the world why it won't work or shouldn't work but the fact is that no one else has put a t56 on a VVT motor and I have. It works flawlessly and you really can tell the power increase down low. I had a F13 cammed LS1 M6 Camaro that felt absolutely gutless below 3000 rpm compared to this LY6/T56 combo. I must be making at least 30-50rwhp/tq more than that LS1 was below 3000 rpm and very near what it was making at higher RPM.

Putting a t56 on a VVT motor isn't rocket science... it's just like bolting it up to any other motor and the VVT will still retain its functionality.

Hey man, I think he is talking about actually putting a VVT cam in a LS3 engine that didn't come with them. It's definitely more complicated than what you are talking about.
