About to buy a 2010 rs/ss what are common issues?
So like the title says im about to buy a cammed 2010 rs/ss black Camaro 6 speed. Im looking for common issues or weak links on these cars. The car has 30k miles on it.

Rear speakers rattle when volume is past 16. I had mine for 4 years with no issues!

With an aftermarket cam there can be plenty. I would be most concerned on how the cam/oil pump/tune was done and who did it.
Check to make sure it was done by a reputable shop and find out how long it's been cammed. Get a list of everything that was done, what parts, when, and who did it. If there are any doubts then do yourself a favor and find another one. That is my opinion about it.

I bought my 2010 about 2 years ago and, to my knowledge, have had no issues. Had 16000 miles and no service records. All years seem to be a very reliable car.

2 main problems with all 5th gens occur.
1. Permagrin, no known cure 2. For some dang reason the back tires always seem to wear out faster than the front ones. Inherit design flaw I guess.

The drive shafts on the 2010's aren't too good, my bolts kept falling out and we finally realized it was bent..

I have 75,000 miles on mine. No issues, other than routine maintenance (brakes/rotors, etc.). There is a known issue where the dashboard gets a small crack where the passenger side airbag is located (on top, above the glove compartment). I love mine.

I broke the console latch this winter, plastic interior needs to be babied in sub-zero temps.
Rear fender gills will collect chips, not much you can do but touch them up once in a while. |

A/C compressor, A/C not blowing cold enough. Plus, maybe opt for a Certified Pre-Owned one. Do your own mods and KNOW what's going on with your new Camaro. JMO.

This would be my concern, as well as WHEN it was cammed. No way I would buy any car that had 30K miles of cammed usage on it. The longer it's been cammed, the longer it's been beat (potentially).

I may sound different than most of the muscle car gear heads on this forum, but I would steer clear of this one, and buy something all original. Stock is not a guarantee to be more reliable, but it's going to be better suited for you in the long run. Just my opinion.

I find that it has been overall a very reliable car in my experience with only maintenance work done. Things like brakes, oil, wipers etc. (63,000km’s on mine).
I do find the paint job to easily chip though, especially around the rear wheel quarter panels. Other than that, I know some of these motors have reported lifter ‘ticks’ upon a cold start. From what I have read on this ‘issue’ it is nothing serious and doesn’t harm the car. Just takes a min or two to warm up before noise is gone. Mine had this. Took it to the dealer and was fixed under warranty. No issues or ‘ticks’ since. |

Yeah but I think that's an issue with all the Gen5 years... even the 2014s. From what I've heard the paint and clear coat both meet only the minimally acceptable standards. Too bad GM couldn't have done a better job on that.
