Help with VIN

I'm looking to buy (I say looking, I doubt I'll ever do it) to get a 1978 Camaro Z28 T-Top. The car is in parts and missing the engine and trans, but it looks like a great way for me to get into the hobby of restoring cars like me father and grandfather do. The car is in parts, and all I know is that the interior is black. Can you tell what the exterior is if I give you guys the VIN? Thanks.

The car is not a Z28, it is a Type LT (Type Luxury Touring).

567865 - #67,865 Camaro built

1978 Type LT - Included Custom Interior. Radcliffe woven sport cloth fabric replaced previous plaid cloth material. Door panels came in two styles with tack on arm rests combined with pull handles, plain panel faces for interiors with cloth seats, and pleated faces for interiors with vinyl seats. Tan simulated leather applique on instrument panel. Amberlite insulation blankets included in doors, rear quarters, roof/sail panels, behind rear seat, under package tray and under carpeting (RPO Z54 interior decor/quiet sound). Option D35 sport mirrors, U05 dual horns, U14 Special Instrumentation and ZJ7 Rally Wheels were standard.

yup its deffinatly not a Z28 sometimes its actually pretty hard to see if iot is a z28 but in your case it wasnt

Yeah, I figured it out for myself. It's still a Camaro though. My dad wants me to get a job so I'm going to make a deal with him. If he buys it, I'll get a job and buy it back from him and restore it.

When looking at a 1978-1981 Camaro, always check the trim tag. It will either read "Z28" or have an "8" by the batch code.

I was on wikipedia and found this

This year was the last year for the Type LT also. With dealership packages you could order a Type LT with a RS option and a Z28 option so you could possibly have a Type LT RS Z28.

It may be a Z28 afterall.

im not saying that this is the case but wikipedia is not always right...if i was you i would check for a different source to confirm

The car is white, and he has a set of white Z28 fenders, so that's what makes me think it could be a Z28. He also has a couple of sets of other fenders for different Camaro's. And the hood he has is a 2 inch cowl hood. I guess it is an LT.

There was no Type LT/RS/Z28 in 1978. Type LT/RS, yes.
