Are shorty headers worth it gain vs money?
Considering buying a set but I live in Nazi California. Its bad enough my push mower isnt Ca. legal.
Anyways considering going with shortys either bbk, doug, or jba unsure but want to confirm that gains are worth the money. Those with shorty headers how do you like them? |

I am considering buying a pair of jba and getting SOLO HFC if I cant get rid of the whine and rasp from my current BBK long tubes. Might get an extra 20WHP with that combo? not sure.

Jba's are carb legal. But they have problems with leaks but it might be your best bet since you live in California. Depending on the mods you already have will be what u gain

to OP, in my opinion, the Shorties are not worth the money when considering the small gains, LT are always better, but if you cant get them, then you got no choice in the matter and shorties are better than nothing

I have an injen long tube and flow masters along with a magna flow resonated x pipe. Would like headers if I go long tube which ones would be the best choice and why.

Shortys paired with HFC's give pretty good gains, not the same as long tubes but very respectable still...this is what I would do....get bbk shortys, solo HFC's, (and depending on if there's unwanted rasp) a magnaflow res x pipe

Get LT's and HF cats swap em out before your smog. You have 6 years before you even have to worry about smog.

You should really get a ported throttle body and the black iceolater and possibly a trifecta tune. That's my plan for living in cali. It just seems like at the moment you can get more for your money with other mods. Worry about headers later..

Very True. If I lived in Calif. I would just skip the headers part of the deal and put that mod money into other items. Those mentioned above are the top 3 out of 4 for sure. The other being a Catch Can to help prevent the oil build up on the valves.

I love the sound difference my DT shorties gave. I noticed the power for sure.
