Do You Feel Like a Celebrity in Your First Generation?
I recently purchased a frame-off restored 1967 Marnia Blue SS/RS Camaro coupe.
And I feel like a celebrity each time I take it out for a cruise. The very first drive I took it on was to AAA to register it. Just as I got out of the car, one person asked to take pictures of my Camaro. Then another lady came running over and asked several questions about it. Yeah, running. On the way home, one guy stopped in the middle of traffic and said, "I'm the most jealous guy in town. I wish I owned one!" I felt a little sorry for him as he drove away in his mini-van with his wife and kids in the back. And the experiences go on and on. So how about you? Do people treat you like a celebrity? I went to 7/11 two days ago and a guy said he was an independent film maker and asked if I wanted to have my 67 Camaro in his next movie in 2012! Man, it's a real kicker. Lets hear the stories. I can't be the only one. Rockies4 |

The best stories with my original '69 Z/28 tend to revolve around the guys who bought one new just like it.... Even some folks with the same color, then they proceeded to get drafted. Of course they sold the car. They have told me many stories over the years.
I was fortunate enough to buy mine in the spring of 1973 for $1900. |

I was feeling like a rock star when my 2010 early pre-order came in. It was cool but almost CREEPY some times the way people would react when they saw it. Honestly, I do get some fun reactions when I drive my '69 around but nothing like they did for the 2010 when it first hit the street.

I've owned my 68 for over 20 years and ever since I finished it, it turned heads. I still love to drive it and watch people's expression, but I was probably more obsessed with getting a 5th Gen.
Now that I have them both I not only feel blessed, I feel A great sense of pride when caring for them. My neighbor thinks I'm nuts, but then again he has an old Oldsmobile under a cover in his garage that he never drives. He did however finally take it out and wash it for the first time in over 7 years since I got the 2010 and have recently been maticuliously caring for the 68. I've told him when he's ready to take them on a cruise, I will be too. Long live Gen1's.

I have owned our '68 since 1988. I had an absolute ball restoring it to it's present condition...One thing I did not do was to paint the car..it was painted in 1988 as a class project at Ivy Tech State College in Lafayette, Indiana.
I love it because as nice as the new 2010 2SS is, the '68 simply puts her in her place......at shows and on the street....not on the track...350hp back then can't compare to the 400+ of today's machine...She sounds good though and will turn heads!!... Kurt ABL99....
