I go by ear when i am shifting. But i am going to
guess its at 2000 rpm. Not racing of course. I will
try pay attention next time and see what
it looks like.

when running it hard i shift at 5500. . . every dyno shows a drop off in power above 5500, thus there is no reason to top out at 6k or 6100

that's the answer i was looking for actually. so no more power is made above 5500? really? i should start shifting at 5500 as well then.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be better to go past 5,500 even if there is a drop in power just so when the next gear comes in it's in a better power range? ie. so you stay in the power-band with the most torque/hp under the curve of the RPM's you are in. Of course, I'm speaking for our LS3, this may not apply to all cars as there are different motors/ torque/hp curves / gear ratios / etc). In most graphs I have seen the stock LS3's HP curve basically stays almost flat (maybe some minor loss) from 5.5K to dyno cutoff ~6.4K.

with this car for the best results its best to shift just before the cut-off so 6600rpm in the first 3 gears
