Worth a shot...I'm near Hagerstown...
I'm down in Gaithersburg/Rockville area... any shops in Frederick that could do the work?

All of this is interesting but makes my CALI $400+ muffler delete even more ridiculous because these shops never talk about adding anything to delete the drone.

What's up my Camaro Peeps!!! Hope all is well. So I got rid of my Camaro Moved back to Benz. Anyway is anyone still using the Helmholtz method to deal with drone? I had some pipes made to fit my MRT2 exhaust but never got around to installing them. I think they are about 29 or 29.5 inches long. I'm looking to get rid of them. Taking any reasonable offer. Message me here or text me 9732966264 I'm located in Nj so someone local would be nice or we can talk about possible shipping.

My exhaust guy has run his family owned shop for like 30 years. He never heard of J-Pipes...

This attitude by many muffler shops appears to be the normal way of thinking.
Let's do it the way we always have.

I just ordered the Solo Performance J Pipes.... I have. Pypes Axle back that installed Day 1... now with the TSP Cam, LTH, off road cats and tune, the drone at highway speed is real bad... Steve at Solo said the new exhaust with J Pipes would fix that... I sure hope so... anyone else with these mods having similar issues?? Or am I just getting old??

Nope I have run them for a few years now and it makes driving the car much better in all conditions.......it will make it a little quieter and the sound more refined without the drone....

Solo J Pipes arrived Friday afternoon.... Install complete.... My Car is "Back to Normal"... No Drone whatsoever... she's a pleasure to drive again....
I had PYPES Axle Back since I bought the car, recently did a Cam swap, Long Tubes, old exhaust was giving me headaches... No More... Best investment I've made, vice the Cam Swap!! Car still "sings" at WOT, and I can hear conversation inside again!!!

Hello!

I bought a Camaro 2012 a few months ago and it was completely original.

I did a muffler delete and welded my own axel back straight (no muffler) tubes.

Got a little drone around 1800 rpm but nothing that disturbs me.

But the sound (blur) around 1300-1500 rpm when the engine shifts between 4cyl and 8cyl is a little disturbing...

Will a long (36-38) j-pipe fix this ?

I have not found any correct answer to this question.

Or is it just tuning the AFM that applies?

No man. Unfortunately, you will need to tune the AFM out if you want to get rid of that completely. At most, J pipes may make it a little bit more bearable. The J pipes are mainly for the massive highway drone certain exhausts create at specific rpms.

My Flowmaster Outlaws sound amazing, but between 1800-2400 RPM (around 75 mph @ 6th gear) is unbearable. I have a 50 mile trip to work and it can be mind numbing.

Totally Agree!! The only way is to tune it out.... The Drone at highway speed will be GONE with the J Pipes.... But you will still need a tune for the AFM.

Wrong re the J-Pipes. I installed the Solo J/Pipes on my 2010 SS L99 back in
March of 2011. (one of the first here on camaro5). I have absolutely no drone
at any RPM, None. Flowmaster puts there money in advertising, not quality imo.
