Airaid MIT, should've went CAI, time for lemonade

So after installing an Elite Engineering catch can I decided to install an Airaid MIT to make the can more accessible and for clearance. I installed the MIT, but found that one clip on the air box was broken off, and the angle of the MIT was off, causing the boot to sit at an angle on the TB.

It is time now to take lemons and make some lemonade. I have now ordered a 3.25" aluminum MAF housing and AEM Dryflow cone filter. If you have been bitten by the mod bug and want to mess with your intake just go straight to a good $300 CAI and don't half ass it like me.

So far I am in for.
$127-Airaid MIT
$94--3.25" MAF housing
$56--3.25 AEM Dryflow cone filter

That's already $277, and I still need to make a heat shield. I am playing with a couple of ideas including an aluminum cookie tray and the rubbermaid trash can shield. I will post up pics of my hybrid Airaid MIT/CAI abomination as it progresses.

Here I am getting an idea of room for the pod filter, and planning the heatshield. Of couse I won't really be able to design anything until the filter and maf are installed.

Installed the MAF adapter and filter today. a little shorter than I had hoped, so its more of a SRI than I would have liked, but oh well. Maybe a 45* elbow between the MIT and MAF to put the filter in the right spot before I fab up some kind of a heat shield.

Honestly, you could try getting more pieces and making a long tube intake since you're already here - one that draws from the fender well?

The slow boat from China finally arrived with my 45* 3.5">3.25" silicone elbow. I removed the windshield washer bottle due to interference with the filter. The filter is decently situated now, and using the torque app the intake air is only 10F higher than ambient while cruising between 30MPH and 65.

I cut out a cardboard template and transferred the pattern to the plastic sheet.

I then used a combination of aluminum foil, carpet tape, and HVAC ducting tape.

Rotofab WW tank is installed and helps the overall look with the intake I think.
