It's good to see folks hop on and sort this.

I did headers and HF cats when home, it was a breeze. It's a nice little project that doesn't require a lift or special tools. I think I spent more time removing and reinstalling the spark-plugs than actually un-bolting the exhaust and bolting up the headers. I was amazed how much room there was to work around the engine bay and actually get a torque wrench in to check the header bolts when done.

I did learn that when the instructions say to disconnect the steering linkage to do it lol.

Fun project for a Saturday or Sunday!!

Not meaning to jack the thread but how did you get a torque wrench on the bolts on the passenger side? I think I got it on one bolt on that side but that was it.

Really interesting how some have to disconnect the steering linkage and others not.

Agreed that it is an easy and fun install though if you are inclined to DIY.

No need to disconnect steering linkage if you picked the right header lol.

I'm assuming this is with most name brands? SW says to remove it, and they make a quality header.

From what I have read, it seems to be more a function of the model year/assembly variations than the header. I installed Kooks on my '11, did not have to disconnect, and have about 1/2" clearance between the header pipe and steering linkage. I would try installing them first without disconnecting. It can't hurt and you might save yourself a step. Worst case....you have to disconnect the linkage.

I just did mine Sunday, left the linkage hooked up and plugs in. I have a lot of patience..lol. the hardest part was actually getting the O2 sensors out. And a swivel socket is your best friend

Trick to that is to loosen them while the exhaust it still warm. After driving the car around, put the car on stands or a lift. First thing you do is crack loose the O2 sensors. Then you can let the car cool down a little and/or work on getting the cat-back off.

....or PB Blaster Penetrating Catalyst. That's what I used. I let it soak for about 15 min and the sensors came out smooth as silk.

Depends on primary size as well. I have SW and i disconnected it. Made it way easier to get that side in. Probably could have done it without removing but, not like it takes any real time to unbolt and push it back out of the way.
