brakes squaling badly *updated see post 10

so earlier this year I installed new drilled/slotted rotors from r1concepts and hawk hps pads. well the last month or so the brakes have been squealing very badly and it drives me absolutely insane. It only happens when i put mild pressure on the brakes, and if i brake hard there is no squealing. I properly broke in the brakes. any solutions/suggestions?

you could have rotor or brake pad issues, did you install the drilled/slotted rotors from r1concepts and hawk hps pads yourself?

typically squealing is associated with the glazing on your rotors and pad, debris gets trapped in the pores of your rotors when hot then it cools down and its gets trapped in there. Then you have no contact and its has hills and valleys. your rotor should have a matte looking finish not a polished finish, if its polished usually its got issues.

I would try cleaning off the rotors with sand paper and brake cleaner and also scuff up the surface of the pads and re-bed them. Sounds like they're either glazed, you have some debris caught in them or you just need to lube everything up.

your answer is lube, pull out the pads and grease the hell out of those shims. of course you'll need the correct type of lube

I agree with you 100%

Most likely a few moments cleaning with sand paper should do it.

I used some stuff I got at autozone. CRC disc brake quiet....red stuff. It dries tacky and gets almost like silicon. Brakes are quiet as a church mouse. Just goop up the back of the pads.

So after dealing with the squealing for awhile I couldn't take it anymore and took it to a shop to get evaluated. Turns out all of my rotors are grooved and causing the squealing. They told me they couldn't resurface them because they're drilled and slotted so they tried to sell me all brand new pads and rotors even though the ones I have are like brand new.

I honestly think they mis diagnosed it because it only happens when the brakes are warm so that's a pad issue

So my car finally got checked out at another shop and they took the pads off and they were smooth and shiny like metal. I'm thinking of getting a better pad. I had the Hawk HPS pad on them and I am not happy with how they performed at all if this is what happens to them. any suggestions for a better pad?
