Will vinyl wrap on engine cover melt under the hood of a boosted car?

I read a lot of threads on this and it seems that people go back and forth on the subject. There are many people that have vinyl wrapped engine covers and other parts in the engine bay without a problem. Some of these individuals daily drive their car and others do not. However, there hasn't been a post I've seen written by a member that had a turbo or supercharged camaro that has vinyl wrap under the hood. I didn't know if this is coincidence or not.

I am afraid my turbo will melt all the vinly in the engine bay if I decided to vinyl wrap a lot of the parts in the engine bay with white carbon vinyl wrap.

Does anyone know if it's safe to vinyl wrap items in the engine bay with heat that a supercharger or turbo adds to engine temps? I don't want it to come off and ruin anything if I do decide to do this. My car is a daily driver as well.

Thanks

I would say yes, it gets pretty hot under the hood.

Ive seen several cars with hydro dip coatings, no issue. I was told that LED lights in the engine cover wouldn't hold up, they did. I was also told regular automotive spray pair couldnt handle the heat, also not true...

The only real way to find out is to try it. Cut out a small piece and put it on the backside of the cover, out of sight, and run it for a couple of weeks. If summer time doesn't kill it, you should be good to go...

I ended up painting everything. The vinyl I was using could take up to 300 degrees I believe, which is great considering engine temps are on average 200 degrees. However, for longevity, paint is the way to go.

Most vinyls are strong up to 260* without any issues. Some can be pushed to 300 but that's a bit much.

Tommy, it'll melt...Not sure what you want to wrap, but anything under the hood use hydro dipping, EmblemsPros can do whatever you need.

Thanks guys . This thread was created a long time ago when I wanted to wrap some engine compartment pieces to see what they looked like before I went through with painting them. They have been painted for some time though . Another member brought this thread back from the dead so I responded to them, ha-ha.
