Stock BA system replacement

My current stock BA system seems to be showing signs of going out or wearing out.

I am looking to replace the entire system. Any recommendations? I am not an audiophile by any means, but can respect a decent speaker system.

I've read in this sub-forum and seems many recommend replacing the amp first. Any recommendations?

Any recommendations on speakers?

I am not looking to break the bank and never turn up my radio past 20.

I wish I knew the secret for knowing if any of the Alpine stuff is good or not. I have had Alpine amps that were awesome, and some that suck. Been buying them since the 90's.

Don't know if they make a model that fits where the BA one goes, but my Kicker amp works great, granted its much larger than the BA one, had to be mounted in the trunk. I replaced the radio with a Pioneer as well and all speakers replaced with Polk Audio ones....the sound is sweet.

Depends on what exactly is wrong with your radio.

If the radio is actually going out, bypassing the amp or replacing the speakers isn't going to help.

An amp is a good upgrade for the stock system as the factory system is underpowered. So adding a better amp can pump up the volume while maintaining the sound quality (ie: volume the radio reaches before you start hearing distortion).

The JL amp is highly recommended and there are many here that use it. Speakers can largely be a matter of personal preference, but the JL C2-650 are recommended as well. You will get a lot of different recommendations based on member brand loyalty or in most cases, familiarity with only that brand/model. I've seen if often noted here that you can also save some money and only replace the fronts as the rears are only fill.

so I unhooked the center speaker. Noticed a difference and can for sure hear the front door speakers are going out. So looking to replace them and my amp.

Is the Rockford P600X4 another good alternative? I was thinking of changing my amp too...

Also, how do you unhook the center speaker?! I'd like to try that

Pop up the center cover, unscrew the speaker, and unplug it. That's it.

I kept the factory radio, got the fark harness and went to a DSP, plugged into factory wiring and ran from the amp to a pair of Focal Poly-Kevlar components up front. passive crossover in the door panel. Seperate BT unit because factory BT sucks balls. Stock boston 6x9 woofers for bass. Shockingly all they needed was more power and deadened to not rattle

There are numerous amp options. The JL is/was popular as it fits the stock location.

JL makes decent equipment. My personal preference has always been Rockford Fosgate for amps, JL for subs, and Kenwood for HUs.
