Sorry if I am late or this has already been posted. Just did a quick search and I couldn't find anything. Also, please excuse me if I am in the wrong section.

I just heard on the radio that onstar is running a special for three months free OnStar for any GM vehicle 2006 or newer. Haven't had in the 2012 LS since the original trial was done so I figured why not? Lo and behold I pressed the blue button, told them that I wanted to try the free trial out, and they had me activated with in 10 minutes!!!

Although my lease is up in December and I drive a manual (no factory remote start) I am looking forward to some of the features again!

P.s. They will ask you to put your credit card on file and if you want to purchase calling minutes. Just politely decline.

You hit on an important point, to decline giving them your credit card information! I imagine it becoming an automatically renewing "service" that shows up on your credit card statement without your permission. They're not offering 3 months free to not make money.

You're exactly right...no card number = no free service. It's just another scam to get your card number and then automatically bill you every month. You agree to this before they activate your service. Been there/done that...

Here is what I did for my Malibu and my truck. I called got the free 3 month plan, gave them my credit card number. Called 2 days later and put a note in my file that on (date your 3 months will be up) to disconnect my service. Worked great and didnt get charged anything.

No issues here either. I've cancelled on several cars while they had my number. They suspend the Camaro every fall when I ask with no issues as well. From what I understand, if you want real abuse, give XM your CC

Called them today just for kicks to see if I was eligible, I was told that it only for members who has had their account inactive for more then 30 days.

Made me wonder if I could just deactivate my current account and reactivate it in 31 days...

I called as well, they said I already used my 3 months free trail when I got the car two years ago.
