Question Factory Amp Replacement: JL XD400/4 or ???

I previously owned the factory amp replacement kit with the JL XD/400/4 amp and sold the kit because I was selling my car. I decided to keep the car and reordered the kit (harness and mounting board). My question is should I buy another JL XD400/4 or is there a better amp out there that will fit into the factory amp location? I already have the ******** integrated amp/sub box so I only need an amp that will power all of the stock Boston acoustic speakers. I found a refurbished JL XD400/4 amp for $249 so I think that's a good deal as the amp is normally priced at $399. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I can't imagine a better amp. There are guys that swear by the alpine but I'm very happy with the JL XD 400 in my car.

I had the JL XD 400/4 and loved it but I'm looking to upgrade my speakers. I've read about guys running the JL XD 600/6 in the stock location so I'm interested in going that route. I need to figure out how to hook up the JL XD 600/6 with the newer FARK V3.0 kit. I had the original FARK kit so I'm not quite sure what do at this point...

Alpine PDX-F4 has 100w per channel @ 4 ohms, It's what I have. Sold my JL XD 400, it only has 75w per channel @ 4 ohms. Don't have to swear, I know and hear the difference. JL XD400 fits perfect in stock location. Alpine PDX-F4 also fits, just a little snug. By the way, I replaced all the speakers on my last Camaro, my current Camaro still has stock speakers. Haven't had the time to install the Alpine amp on my 1LE.

I thought that the JL XD 400/4 puts out 100 watts x 4 @ 2 ohms in the Camaro? Stock speakers are 2 ohms right?

I have the JL XD400 in one Camaro and the Alpine PDR-F50 in the other. Both are very nice amp upgrades over the factory amp by far. The Alpine does have the edge on stereo separation, very tight controlled bass and power. I do not think you will be disappointed with either one.

So the JL XD 400/4 puts out 400 watts total (100 X 4) @ 2 ohms and the Alpine PDR-F50 puts out 500 watts (125 X 4) @ 2 ohms and they both fit in the stock location on the ******** mounting board? If so, I'll probably go with the Alpine.

Yes the Alpine fits on the mounting board also with no clearance issues, very compact.

Right! Factory speakers are 50W @ 2 ohms. Aftermarket speakers are 4 ohms. Since my 2010 had Alpine speakers that were 100W RMS @ 4 ohms. I had to sell my JL XD400, to get a stronger amp to power my new speakers @ 4 ohms.

That's exactly the answer I was looking for! Seems like the JL XD 400/4 is only good for stock speakers and the Alpine is better for stock AND aftermarket speakers. Thanks for the input!

Can anyone recommend an amp kit for the Alpine PDR-F50 for the factory amp replacement kit set up?

Go to ********.com , I used the FARK kit to install my system. Visit the site and inform yourself on how it works. It's plug and play. Pretty easy.
