...Yeah, mecham and raptor are awesome, when you didn't blow your wad on putting the ass back together.
Grand total: 10,318. What I paid for the car: 12,500 otd. And the diff is now droning, like a really annoying groany drone. Yoke probably got f'ked, that or the pinion shaft has issues too. |

hmmm... diff bearings could be warped. get a new rear end.. quick jacking with yours trying to keep fixing it and replace it. it'll save you money and pain in the long run.

Had a potential lined up for a while. Buddy in town has a '00. Stock 10 bolt and he's just now getting his Midwest in. Probably swap 'em out after T/A nats.

junkyard. or if you lived closer, I could get you half a dozen for less than a couple hundred bucks... combined.

Tried to actually do this, remember? Best we could come up with was a 3.23 auto rear and chancing the diff/swapping out the 3.42 in my car in the process. Would have been a labor nightmare. I wish I could road trip to SC.. Also finally installed my short stick. Love. It. |

Short stick is sweet, love mine. if you are hearing a whining noise could be something else rubbing...might want to get under it and look for signs of something rubbing.

This, I rebuilt mine and destroyed it 1000 miles later. $200 and I got a used once with fairly decent miles. 3.42 4 channel rear too.

and would you rather have one labor nightmare now and get it done, or continuously have nightmares trying to repair your current rear... at some point, you have to get rid of junk parts

Took it to my usual shop, gonna schedule an inspection to see if its something simple or rebuild/junkyard unit time.
Just something more on the to do list. In the mean time if I blow it up its nothing to get bent up about. |

Hell thanks to this resto, I got a good amount of spare latches and parts anyhow so what's a spare rear? I just need to get the money set aside while I slowly kill the one in the car right now. |
