4) I hold that same throttle position until I feel the tires grab. Then and only then do I add more throttle. Even then I don't stomp on the throttle.

A lot of people in their excitment will hammer the throttle at launch, and this will often only add to the traction problems. It takes some muscle discipline to hold the throttle and only go WOT only after the tires are hooked.

I've found it is better to maintain 3/4 throttle with traction, than WOT and spin.
Good tips - how are you holding your line or preventing roll control here? That's been tricky for me....

Do you mean the car is rolling after you stage and the clutch is in?

I race at three different locations here in Germany and at one track I've experienced my car rolling backwards when I sit there with the clutch in.

I really don't have a good solution for that when it happens, because it doesn't happen to me that often.

What I try to do is hold the clutch and the brake once I'm staged. When the first yellow light on the tree lights up I will release the brake and attempt to get some rpm before the third yellow and I have to launch. That way the car doesn't have enough time to really roll that far, but that has always had mixed results.

From the videos, it sounds like you're hitting the clutch way too hard. Should be feathered out quickly for best grip.

And Ryan- your pass against Taylor at Firebird is still your standing best, correct?
no it was against allen brotha (top vid). My worst was against Taylor LOL. Ive done drag racing before but this is the first time ive gone consistantly. I raced my supra TT and that got me 12's but it was an auto, and my MR2 turbo saw high 13's but that being mid engine made it easy to launch as well. also this is the first time ive race at famoso. So i think i may have to give sac raceway a shot. seems our whole group has been having bad 60's at famoso.

thanks for all the TIPS guys keep it up

I'm not sayin you're not experienced brotha

Just saying that Charles also has good power, has done it before, and is still struggling with his ETs at Famoso

Let me know if you head up to Sac
