Resale value due to top repairs

My wife is looking for a new used car so we bought a month subscription to CarFax that allows unlimited report lookup by license plate number. I checked my SS convertible CarFax and am shocked. Every top repair is listed, as "repaired broken top", along with the date of the repair. All other maintenace records are there too, which shows my attention to oil changes, etc., but I know I'd read these top repairs and stay away.

All service performed at a dealer will appear on CarFax, whether under warranty or out-of-pocket.

I've gotten a chuckle out of watching my '10 and '12 Camaros burden their new owners with a wide assortment of mechanical, paint, and top troubles.

Don't you mean VIN Number?
License plates are issued for owner registration.

yeah resale value kinda sucks, but if you are trading it in to GM you can always use that to your advantage

The CarFax "subscription" is 5 VIN searches, and unlimited by License Plate number. So in theory, all registered cars can be checked, which is typically the case when buying from a private party.

Ultimately comes down to the buyer and how much they are in love with the car - or not. Ever try to tell your daughter to stop seeing the bad boy you know has serious issues? How does that usually work out?!
