So i was driving down the highway the other day, and saw a silver camaro sitting infront of Lawrence Hall Lincoln Mercury Mazda, and i am buying from Lawrence Hall Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC (RIP pontiac) so i thought i would take a look at it, and see if maybe i could get a test drive, well, i did.
its a 1LT with moon roof and auto transmission, no other options. Its VIN ends in 6019. anyway, they got it from an auction, so they are thinking its a repo, with 7.7k miles. Its SIM with black hockey stripes.

Anyway, they are asking $33,999. Thats way more than it was new! my salesman thought it was ridiculous, but my contacts at Lincoln Mercury Mazda thought it was a very fair price due to the time it takes to get a new one.
has any one else seen this?! i knew dealers marked up the new cars, but used?!

I can believe it. Word is they are horrifically marked up in some regions because they know people will pay for the instant gratification. I've also read heard rumors about some disreputable dealers giving extra "treatments" when the vehicle arrives (undercoating, etc.) and charging outrageous prep fees specifically so the people who ordered the cars cancel the deal and the dealership can immediately mark up the price and put it on the lot, knowing it will sell for more than they'd have gotten from the original buyer. I don't know the accuracy of the rumors, but check out the threads in the forum here about dealers to avoid.

I see those crazy used 2010 Camaro mark-ups all over the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. It's nuts.

Believe it or not, A pre-owned 2SS in the Texas region, is bringing in 38K at the auction. Dealers get it there then have to mark-up for profit. That's why we not buying Camaro's at auctions.

my dealer in Colorado got a black 2ss at an auction, used 9miles on it, 10 grand over new msrp

Local Pontiac dealer has a 2SS with no other options and 2300 miles. They want $47,000. I asked them why. They said, "It's an SS. That's how much they go for."
