Why doesn't brake light intensity change?

Not sure where this question should go.

I have been curious as to why we haven't seen cars with brake lights that change the intensity of the light based on the pressure applied to the brakes. I remember reading before it was being looked into, but haven't seen or heard anything since. Is there anything out there like this or being talked about?

Sounds like added unnecessary expense to me.

Some BMWs have this.

Because honestly most people wont realize the difference between brake lights and OH $H!T brake lights ... Added cost with little gain. Going straight up led for a brighter faster illuminating brake light would be my choice over the varying intensity brake light.

I don't really see the point of those kind of brake lights. Might only be helpful at night cuz thats when people may notice the difference in intensity. but during the day they'd be useless.
