Put 100 rounds through my Shield the other week with Overflow and a friend. Pretty good little gun.

Oddly enough I'm feeling the itch for a Glock 19 now...

Now we're talking. Is the 03A3 a Smith-Corona, or a Remington?

It's a Remington. Barrel is dated 9-43.

Nice. My Remmie 03A3 is a '43, but since mine was sporterized and drilled for a scope mount, I made it into an 03A4

Love the 30-06......bought a Weatherby Vanguard in 1983 in it and have killed multiple deer and shot many turkey shoots with it. The old round still has awesome ballistics even today.....especially with today's ammo.

I've been thinking about picking up one of those reproduction 03a4s. I doubt I can afford a real one any time soon.

Yeah, if you hand load, the .30-06 gets pretty close to .300 Win Mag. I won't hot rod it that much for the 03a3, but I will when I get a commercial .30-06.

A buddy loaded me up some 130 grain Barnes rounds that were a shade over 3300fps.....perhaps a bit hot, but darn flat shooting

Make one man. I bought the sportered 03A3 barreled action for 170 bucks. Releived bolt that headspaced was 120. Most expensive thing was the scope and rings. Admittedly the scope ain't great...the originals were actually worse.

The reason I didn't buy a Gibbs 03A4 was that the actions were demils that were repaired. Visually you can see some cut marks on some near the mag cut off, but on many I have seem they look perfect. I decided it would be more fun to make one out of a sporter, so I "re-militarized" one. Took about a year to collect the parts and get it all together but it was fun.

Trouble is, mine is not a good shooter at the moment. I found an un-issued 1943 Remington barrel still in the wrap and cosmoline, took a chance on it, 100 bucks.

I like my Vedder Holster for my Shield. Very comfortable, good quality, priced right, and didn't have to wait months for it!
