The guy who was teaching me was going to get an Eotech, but read that there were some serious battery life issues especially with extreme temperatures. He was looking at Aimpoints instead, but said they weren't as accurate.

Aimpoints are very good red dots, very expensive though. I, myself prefer Eotech. The battery life on some Aimpoints can last several years. The Eotech issue is only with extreme temps like +125 or -30. Unless your in a combat zone, I wouldn't worry about it.

Larry Vickers has awesome Aimpoint torture test videos on his YouTube channel. I have an Eotech and love it.

I must be the only AR15 owner that uses iron sights and an MK IA eyeball.

Look at Wyndham Weaponry. They used to be former Bushmaster people. DPMS is not bad either. Smith and Wesson M&P Tactical is very nice for the $. My dad has one that shoots really well.

For optics are thinking scope, or reddot? Look at Primary Arms website. Good people, fast shipping, great service.

I actually just picked up a DPMS Oracle for $485 nib. I figured it an economical starter AR to have fun with at the property. Going to sight it in this weekend hopefully.

Sight all mine in with the folders, or posts first. Thinking of doing a full old school set up with just irons and not free floated.

Mine doesn't even have any rails but I like it the way it is. Colt Sporter with a 5.56 upper, 1 in 7.

Is it just me, or is your frame cracked right in front of the trigger guard?
