Awd 2010 camaro

I have been doing some checking and was curious to what everybody on here would think about an awd camaro?

It would be essentially untouchable. Your 60 ft time could easily be sub 1.5 with slicks on. But no way that you could convert the camaro to be AWD. It'd add too much weight and cost one hell of a pretty penny. But in theory, it's awesome.

AWD steals hp. Sticky tires and RWD lets you keep the power. 1.4x 60fts aren't happening unless you have 600 hp and a huge converter with a heavy car. How are the Chrysler cars doing with the awd?

I'm cutting 1.65 60ft now on 20" DRs. The power isn't the issue more just seeing about*suspension*and*handling. I'm at 556hp and 509tq so more power is only a smaller*pulley*away. I would bring my hp up to around 600 to 650 if I did this mod to*compensate for drivetrain loss.

Please leave the AWD for import tuner and truck scene! If the camaro was ever built to be AWD I would loose total respect for chevy Muscle cars are not meant to be AWD period!

I'd beg to differ that AWD steals HP. I'll use Evo's as my example. While yes RWD does let you handle more power, you will come to a point where your limiting factor is traction. AWD helps solve that problem. Hence a modded Evo can compete with a mustang.

But for looks wise and for Burnouts I'll keep the RWD.

Rwd is the most fun! Don't worry it will not be on all the time.

I'm coming from the trailblazer ss world. Rwds run about 13.8 times. Awd trucks are about a half second slower. Same gears, same engine, and about 100 lb weight difference. I agree on the traction thing. My othe car is on bias ply et streets and still wont hook. Sounds like op needs to put his Camaro body on a z71 frame since he wants to be able to turn of the 4WD.

Guess it all depends on the application of power and AWD. Evo's and Sti's have better overall grip on launch, from my experience. I've seen a stock Evo beat a Roush Mustang, just because the Roush couldn't plant the power.

Some cars are really good with AWD. There are a few 350z's that have been converted to AWD are they run excellent.

I think it'd be pretty cool to see an AWD Camaro. I'd like to see one and I'm sure someone will try it given time.

Funny thing is there was a bunch of know it alls that bitched at chevy for making the silverado SS awd....so they answered with a two wheel drive silverado SS....guess what? The two wheel drive version was slower. Look it up if you don't believe me.

The camaro doesn't need more weight. Thats its limiting factor already.

RWD cars are capable of better 60 foot times then AWD, period.

Weird when you think about it, but nonetheless true.
