AFM is offered on the Camaro to avoid the gas guzzler tax. With the auto transmission, the LS3 would only get 23 MPG (gas guzzler tax threshold) or below hence requring the tax. That's why AFM is offered which is also where the L99 came from. The LS3 with manual trans already gets 24 MPG so no guzzler tax.

Also, the LS3 was mentioned in the thread early on and then AFM which is only offered on the L99 so which is it. OP, which engine package did you get?
Anyone knows what they advertise and real world are 2 different things. Not many drive the car they way it was tested.

I agree. But it seems he should be getting a little closer to the 25 mark to me. I'm just saying his concerns/questions are not out in left field. I think they are legit IMO.

Suck,Squeeze,Bang,and Blow.

Have your dealer check the fuel mixture settings. They may have come set a bit rich.

If your a wrencher, you can look at the plugs to confirm this, the darker the color of the plug, the richer that cylinder is running.

Alternatively, if you make her breathe better with a cold air intake, and belch better with a less restrictive exhaust, your mileage should improve.

My truck seems to do better on some tanks than it does on others. It may be the gas you are putting in. I also notice that my AFM seems to be a little more aggressive in kicking in when the weather isn't so cold. Sometimes it rarely switches to 4 cylinder mode and other times it's in it for 75% of the drive. Just my 2 cents...

I think the water temp has to be a certain level before it changes.. mine is the same way... I get about 3-5 more MPG when its warm out than I do when its cold

Scott, If you are driving in the Sport mode it will be less MPG.

I would like to know what your previous cars got compared to the advertised MPG, was it higher? lower? What RPM's are you hitting? In my wifes 05 Corolla we can hit up to 3k RPM and still get the same gas mileage and go up to about 80 and get the same gas mileage. Anything beyond that it drops "exponentially".

I think everyone (v6 or v8 owners) need to keep in mind the testing that is done to determine the EPA numbers. For example, highway numbers (max speed 60mph, max acceleration 3.2mph/sec, avg speed over 10.3mile trip 48.3mph). I'm sure none of us drive like that. At least we won't until gas creeps back up to $4-$5/gal again.

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/fe_test_schedules.shtml

It also really depends on the driver's foot. In my wife's Expedition, when I drive from our house to downtown Houston on nearly every Saturday morning, I average just over 19mpg but when my wife drives this same route in about the same amount of time it takes me, she averages just under 16mpg. I'm so used to driving in traffic everyday that I don't accelerate/decelerate as quickly as she does and I also tend to coast more rather than constantly pushing the gas pedal.

You mileage may get better as the miles roll by but you might need to adjust your driving style a bit to make more of an improvement.
