Question re: c.i. displacement and hp

Alert: Possible stupid question.
On the old muscle cars, some would have numbers, i.e., 427, on the hood scoop. I would like to add this to my car when it is finally born. My potentially stupid question is, do those numbers represent the cid or hp? Also planning on swapping front bowtie to a black one and possibly removing the rear one. I ordered a black 2ss/rs w/ground effects on 2/20 and will soon be changing that order from automatic to stick.

427 was the cid like 350 or 383 etc.

So is anyone who's going to put displacement badges on the car going to say that the SS has a 378 or will you say something else?

I liked that, before, you could get a "classic" engine size like the 5.0 and 5.7 (roughly 302 and 350, respectively) liters. It's a shame that the 6.2 L isn't a true 396. Maybe that's just my opinion, though.

376 (or 378) is not as impressive as 426(hp). I think I might be skipping this badge. Maybe that's what the license plate will have to be "426hp" rather than KICKN SS.

They sell a stroker 427 kit for the 376 right? I thought I had seen that somewhere. That it seems would be a popular modification.
