Black ZL1Rim problem

While detailing my ZL1 I noticed my rims on the inside look like the black is fading or wearing off. Has anyone ran across this problem besides me. The outside spokes look fine. The problem is the inside front and rear rims.

It is normal. They don't use a lot of paint on the wheels! I will eventually have mine powder coated.

I here what your saying but I dont think it is normal. I would hope that it is not normal. Looks like a Warranty issue to me.

Good luck claiming it's a defect. I gave you the answer and you don't seem to want to accept that? That's the cold hard facts. If it were abnormal don't you think there would be more than a few posts regarding the wheels being repainted under warranty? Check the forum for other complaints about the same issue. I want to hear what the dealer says when you press for a warranty claim. They most likely will just show you another car with black wheels and the same exact issue and tell you to go enjoy the car. If you really want to lose sleep look at your thin layer of paint/clear on the car itself. I would begin looking at the underside of the hood itself!

I was able to get a wheel replaced under warranty but my situation was a bit different. I had a piece of paint flake off the wheel. I did mention to my dealer about the shitty paint job on the wheels and he really didn't seem to concerned about it. Good look getting it replaced

Ill post up what the dealer says. I've had my car for 1 1/2 and have not noticed any paint or clear coat issues. Actually, for a very low first year VIN the inner rim is the only thing I have seen on my car.

It's normal. There have been a few threads about it.

If the dealership did replace them the new wheels would probably look similar.

The inside of my barrels are also pretty thin also. I have an early 2012 build as well. If I become unhappy with it or it gets worse, I will have them powdercoated as well.

It is the inside barrel of a wheel for mass produced car . . . this is not a rotisserie restoration . .

I understand that but my SS rims are not barely or lightly chromed on the inside so why should the black paint be thin on my ZL1.
