ZL-1 tire pressure wheres yours at?

Just curious where everyone is keeping their tires inflated too. Mine came with 30 in the rear and 29 on the front. The manual says put 44 lbs if you gonna go over 100mph and the tire says 51 max psi. I just raised them all to 38 psi cold

Your everyday pressure will be on the door label. The high pressure (44) is only for high speed/racing.

32 cold and they go up to 35 on the highway. I have never seen anything below 31 yet and if I did I would be looking at the tires very closely

Everyday driving I run 32

At the strip I have tried 32 and then 27, 27 hooked up better.

First time at the autocross I tried 40 and it was too much, it would not hook up.

The second time at the autocross I set it at 30 and it was a lot better.

There are triangles near the edge of the tire that are wear references. Under heavy side loads the tire will roll under, you will see scuffing start to approach the triangles, if the scuffing starts to wear away the triangles you need to add more pressure.

I just read an article online http://racingready.com/2010/05/27/ti...s-tuning-tips/ about tire pressure, the important part is near the bottom, talks about the triangles on the sidewall.

Why does the owners manual say set the pressure to 44 for high speed use and the ZL1 owners video says different. It says set the pressure to 28 front and rear when cold. Then hot pressure for the front is 38 and for the rear is 37 for high speed use?

It's suppossed to be 32 PSI as on the door jamb decal. Correct me if I am wrong.

Ignore the 51 psi max pressure on the tire for setting operating pressures. Max tire pressure is related to the tire's design basis, not vehicle operation.

I don't know why the video would differ from the manual, but delaying the onset of standing waves in the tread and maintaining tire load capacity are likely involved in the increased pressures . . . tire rated load capacity actually does drop off at very high speeds - Linky.
