I have a question that I'm not sure about. I know I need to mask off my rally stripes on my Camaro because they are vinyl, but on my wife's Charger it has hand painted pinstripes down both sides of the car. They are not under the clear coat but are painted on. Do I need to mask off the pinstripes before I use my Porter Cable, just avoid going over them, or is it OK do buff them as well? I just don't want to mess the pinstripes up so if I need to avoid them I will.

Thanks.
definitely mask the vinyl.

as for the pinstripes it should be okay to polish over them.
if they were painted you may want to ask the painter if he put a clear over it.

The wheel detail you up posted on the Audi. Is that what you use on custom painted wheels ie Forgeline, HRE etc.?

congrats on the car and welcome to the site.

I would avoid claying the strips as you can scratch them.

other than that make sure you use plenty of clay lube.

clay can also mar or scratch the car so you want to use plenty of lube and make sure you keep folding the clay bar. if you drop it throw it out and get a new piece.

if you do get some marring or fine scratches you will need to polish them out.

then finish off with a wax.

let me know if that helps.

I just got my 2011 Camaro in April. I was wondering how often I should wax my car? I've washed it every week since I've gotten it, and I use a California duster in between since I live in the desert and sand flies on it when the wind picks up around here.
