Extended Warranty
I know it can be a bit of a polarizing question, but I'm going to ask it anyway
Are you going to purchase an extended warranty? If so, are there any real benefits to doing so at the time of purchase as opposed to waiting until the factory warranty runs out? Does anyone know of anything that is not covered in the 3 yr/ 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper that is worth looking for an extended warranty to cover? Does anyone have good experiences to report with a third party company? Thanks in Advance!

I'm going to get my extended warranty from my Credit Union. I paid $1143 for 6 years/90,000 miles.
The last time I purchased one, the dealer made an offer of 6 years/60,000 for $1200 and that was 8 years ago. I pushed it back and the counter offer was for $900 and I took it. I plan on asking my dealer if he can beat the offer I can get from my Credit Union. If so, I'll go with the dealer. In my opinion, I believe it's a good thing to get the warranty up front. That's just me. I want to have all my ducks in a row once I drive off the lot. |

Personally, I won't be able to wait for my warranty to end. I can't see why you would want to extend it.

It will be my primary daily driver, so I'd like to minimize the maintenance/repair costs for a while (maybe greater than the 3/36 that comes from GM)

Be careful with those extended warranties. A lot of people think they are GM extended warranties just because they bought it from the dealer. Not true......you may end up with a warranty that you have to pay for the repairs and then submit receipts and hope the warranty underwriter will approve reimbursement. If you do buy an extended warranty, make sure it pays for the repairs, not reimburses you after the fact. Personally, I would wait until about 6 months before the factory warranty runs out, then buy an extended warranty. I was just qouted $399 for a 5/100k miles extended warranty on our 2003 Avalanche with 140K miles on it.

I thought the Camaro has a 5yr/100,000 mile warranty. That's what the brochure and the website says - not 3yr/36,000. ??

With all the criminals living where I do, I'd LOVE to have an M2 mounted on mine...(I'd even settle for a .30 cal...more ammo).

I'm not going to get one. The manufacture warranty is good enough for me.
