To Weld or not to Weld?

I just received my ARH headers and i noticed it came with a few clamps. Will it make any difference if i go ahead and weld those or should i use the clamps?

use clamps. Never know what you will have to be taking off and putting back on in the future. It will give you better options down the road.

And if the clamps are U Bolt style, throw them away and order the flat stainless steel seal clamps from Summit Racing that do not crimp our otherwise damage your pipe.

They come in lap joint style and in butt joint style, and for each diameter.

+1 for using clamps for ease of removal, if you ever have to.

They are the clamps that came with the headers from ARH. Those good enough?

I welded up my entire exhaust, except for where the headers bolt to the mid pipes. This way there are no leaks, I am not carrying around 5 lbs of unnecessary clamps, I don't have to worry about my exhaust loosening up and sagging or rubbing on something under my car.

It still comes off very easily just like the stock exhaust.

The U bolt clams are my favorite, the problem is when people don't know how to use them and they crank the hell out of them.

I did this too and for what it's worth I have removed mine three times since and it's no big deal at all. It's actually off right now, as I'm doing some work to the rear end.
