Painted Stripes

I've been searching through the forums and haven't been able to find any active threads about this. I'm waiting on my IBM 1LT to arrive in approximately 2 months and got started building up my mod list including costs and now am at the stripes;

I want to get them painted, not vinyls. I want tapered stripes bumper to bumper in white paint and have been trying to find places around NH that do them... and so far the quotes I've received are ranging from 2.5k to 4.5k... seems a bit high to me.

-I was wondering if anybody who had them painted could share how much they cost and how good the finish was. (Pics would be great :] )
-Also if anybody in the NH/MA area knows a good place that does quality work at a decent price, please let me know.

I've sent emails around to about 12 places and only received 3 emails back so far.

If there's another thread covering this already, I apologize.

I don't like the bumper to bumper stripes it gets old very fast. It looks good for a few months then it's like what did I do to my car. But if you like it and want to do it. It's your car

I'm not completely sold on bumper to bumper yet but when I saw that one, I thought the front looked pretty amazing:

Now obviously this is an inverted version of my car (blue stripes over white car), but I like the front stripes. I think I would make them wider on the inside so the gap between em isn't so large but either way, that's kind of what I had in mind + running them over the top and all the way down to the bumper on the back as well.

Its your car you do what you like. Anyone that sees it for the first time will love it. But after some time it will get old real fast. I like having a sunroof better then stripes on my roof. Again that's just me. Good luck with what you do.

Glad to hear that your not wanting to go the cheap route and put vinyl on your car. I cant give you any insight as to shops out there as Im in calif. But I paid $1400 for mine it helps that my buddy owns the shop..It sounds to me like the price there quoting you is probably to paint the stripes and to clear coat and buff the whole car again which is the best way to do it but they can just clear and buff the stripes if you want its takes less time and cost and still looks good.

That guys car looks good if I were you I'd stay off the roof and don't go down the back bumper stop at the spoiler like he did and bring the stripes closer together like you said that would be a good clean look not to busy and different from his and others. Personally I don't like the bumper to bumper look, its to much and looks like the Mustang. Good luck and post some pics when you get it done I'd like to see how it turns out and how you chose to do it.

Thanks for the advice! Makes sense, I think I'll go down that route.

I'm assuming the 4300$ quote was to re-clear/re-buff everything like you said... but that's a little too excessive for me. I'm not trying to put a show car together; just want a clean set of painted stripes instead of the cheaper vinyls.

$1200 is reasonable, that's what I paid to have mine done and the guy did an awesome job!

I've been thinking about doing black stripes bumper to bumper on my IBM. Haven't seen anyone else with them and I think with some black wheels it will look pretty slick and subtle.

I wonder if you could even see them... the blue is so dark when it's cloudy outside or when the car gets dirty.

I just got a 3rd quote at a very good price again...

I think the 1st quote at 4300$ included a full wetsand/reclearcoat/repolished/rebuffed of every single panel/bumper/spoiler the stripes would touch which is ridiculous for a brand new car imo.

Getting so excited to start working on that car. 2 months is ridiculously long >.<

remember, especially with paint work - you get what you pay for. If the 4k bid for full clear includes full R&I (remove & re-install) the trim go for it. The end result will look like a 10-12K pain job. Just a pro's opinion.
