Should I get one?

I have a 93 base camaro and I absolutely love the car. However, the car has 200k miles on it as I bought it from the original owner, everything on the car is original and I have this distinct feeling that its going to become a money pit. So after this winter I have decided that I was going to sell it. First thought was to get a truck and a bike, but then I was given the idea to get a new car instead. Well I can't see myself driving any other kind of car. I hate most regular sedans, the only thing I can think of is getting a new Camaro.

With that said buying a newer 4th generation just doesnt seem right, almost like it would disgrace my car because that one wasn't good enough. So more or less my question is, should I get a new SS? I am about 80% sure I can afford it, it would just be the insurance that would kill me, (I am only 18). I would be paying for it all myself and ya, just wanted to hear some other thoughts.

Keep driving her and save your money. Then buy a new SS and store her until it makes sense to restore her to new. Believe me, that first love will always haunt you.

Hey, you should just get a 2012 V6. 323hp should be enough power for you. i'm 23 and will either get a new 2012 v6 or a used low mileage 2SS. Are you on your parents insurance?

Keep the 4th Gen, stack up your pennies and when you KNOW you can afford the 5th Gen - jump on it. You will NOT be disappointed in the 5th Gen when you get it. As for the insurance, take defensive driving, don't drive like an idiot and shop around for an insurance company that is affordable but is still reputable. Good luck with your decision!!

I would love to my uncle is a huge auto junkie and he is a huge v6 fanatic. He owns 3 3.8 grand national motors 2 of which are a 87' Grand National at 522hp and then a sprint car, that has been tuned to everything. The guy who burns his chips says 588hp at the crank. So building up my current car has crossed my mind but I just have this feeling that the restoration almost isnt worth it at times.

Well Mamba, The way I was looking at it, was go big or go home. Might as well get it all since I would be driving it for many years to come. At the moment I am on my own insurance but if I do end up buying a new one I would go with what ever side would be cheaper.

My answer to this is hell yeah! I went from a 96 Z28 to a 2011 SS and never been happier. Do it with no regrets.

As much as you may love your Camaro it really isn't worth putting any significant money into being that it has high miles and is a base model. If I were you, even though you may be able to afford an SS, I would look at cars in the 15-20k range like 05-06 GTOs, C5 Corvettes, 5th gen GT Mustangs, 04-07 CTS-Vs, 2010 V6 Camaros, etc and then you'll be able to buy that bike or truck you wanted as well or keep your current Camaro as a daily/winter driver, and STILL have money left for mods and important finances down the road.
