Were you under the assumption that it would appreciate in value?

Try other dealers if you can, all things depreciate unfortunately. New cars are not good investments, you lose money seconds after signing the papers.

Yea I figure $48-$49k they will put it on the lot for $54,999k.

It's a limited market who they can sell the car to. Since many want one but not many can plunk down the cash or afford the $900 a month car payment.

Enlightenyou, how can you ask if I thought that I was under the assumption that it would appreciate in value with a 50K offer?. insulting is what it is, Do you guys work for chevy or something? lol. If the salesman was embarrassed to tell me the offer, I am surprised you are ready to bend over and accept it. down 15k seriously? be real people with yourselves.

If you paid sticker? That was the first mistake, if not going to the Dealer who sold you the car was your first.
You are going to loose money on a new car regardless. How much is up to you. A 2014 ZL1 with a sticker of $64,xxx sold privately for $56,xxx doesn't sound bad. If you only Paid $59-60 for it, which is what you should have paid. It doesn't hurt so bad.

P.S. Don't expect those figures here off the forum, you will have to sell it thru AT or CL. Guy's on here want it for nothing.

First I did go back to the place I bought the car from, secondly the posting wasn't about selling it, I could care less about selling it or not. The posting was meant to make people hold chevy a little more accountable. Obviously from the replies, I can see people do not expect much trade-in value back for the cars the buy. If you act like cattle, then I guess they own you. Kellys blue book value on a 13 (and mine is a 14) is 60k. So they can easily sell mine for 60 also. Funny how some people just cant see the light, when the salesman himself told me the offer was weak and that he was going to try to see what he could do about it. I was thinking 57k and they can sell it for 60-61K. ZL1 convertible is loaded 65k car before taxes and destination charges ect.

That's not Chevy or GMs problem, it's your dealer.

All vehicles lose value the moment they are driven off the lot. Chevys are no exception.

A convertible camaro has known problems. Also when you combine a ZL1 + convertible you have a very limited buyer pool. You would be lucky to get 50,000 if you sold it yourself. There is a 2013 ZL1 convertible on auto trade that stickered for 66,000, it has 1,100 (one thousand one hundred) miles and the asking price is 49,999. So you could easily get a few thousand more off. The resale value of these things suck.

To begin, hopefully you did not pay sticker price! Secondly it is age old adage that cars lose between 20 and 30 percent when you drive them off the lot. I am not shocked nor surprised that 50k was the trade in offer. I would bet that is top end of what the nada and blue books put your car at for Clean Trade In Value. If you drive a 32k 1SS for 3900 miles I'd bet the Trade offer would be around 25k. Its all relative!

you think I am 10? my first car? you think you are telling me something new "lose value"? yeah I know that, 15k isn't losing money, down 15k is called "they don't stand behind their product". but the deaf cant hear and the blind cant see. so you probably haven't understood my point. sheep, I guess I am not helping anyone else by posting this stuff.

I hear you on venting, I wouldn't call everyone on here sheep, just realistic. If someone's plan is to get a new car every 6 months or year, I might suggest looking into a lease. It's a known fact that you lose a major, major portion of the value very quickly on any new car.

Now, I know what my car is worth. It's priceless, ok, exaggeration, maybe a million dollars.
