Edmunds.com buys Camaro for Long Term Test

Quote:
Weeks of searching finally netted a hit at M.K. Smith Chevy in Chino, California. We hoped to pay MSRP, but this one was silver (no way we'd take yellow), had the leather interior and was available the same day. Dealer markup? About 2,500 bucks. Seems fair. With tax, title, license, doc-prep and everything else signed and done, the total tab for our 2010 Chevy Camaro SS came to $42,192.
Maybe not their strongest effort, but I find edmunds.com's long term tests fair and interesting to follow. Click on the pic to read the full article.

Wow, I'm surprised they paid over MSRP.

I see Edmunds is among the crowd that thinks any Camaro with less than 8 cylinders is an Iron Duke.

A piddly little 4-cylinder engine they put in some early-80s Camaros with less than 100 hp.

looks like the first Camaro post is already up on their long term blog - a rant about the steering wheel. not surprising considering how wacky the wheel is in the Camaro, eh?

Huh. I actually really like the feel of the steering wheel. Never had a negative thought about it.

The wheel feels comfortable and natural for 10-and-2 driving. 9-and-3 is what you have to do to use all the built-in controls, but that doesn't feel as good.

The wheel and the radio (interiors biggest complaint generators it seems) are both fine to me. I think that people seize on them to complain about right away because they are different from anything else on the road at the moment. After 2-3 days with your car they're a non-issue. IMO
