Is Langka the best chip repair kit? Mine only has 14k miles (none in the winter) and looks like it's been attacked at the gills. I doubt GM will do anything for it since it's out of warranty.

The paint on these things sucks a big dong. I've actually had paint on some edges rub off when wiping it down with a terry cloth after waxing. I am the slow guy in the far right lane who stays 5-6 seconds behind any other cars to limit getting hit by rocks and things being thrown up, and still there are chips all over.

Additionally, on the front bumper there is about a 1"x3" spot where the paint looks like it has stress cracks.

I have only had the car for two months, with about 2k miles.

The paint issues are one of the big reasons why i traded in my 2010 2SS Silver ice camaro, since then i have owned 3 different ford mustangs and i can honestly say i have only had ONE paint chip on all 3 mustangs combined and it's the same roads, conditions and mileage that the Camaro saw.

I'd rather shell out a few thousand for a proper paint job from a custom shop, than get rid of the car... And I will likely do exactly that once it gets beat up enough. I just absolutely love the style of the car, both inside and out. But man alive, it is very sad GM can't get a paint job done right, for whatever reason. The Jeep I had previously, for the past couple years, have about 20k miles on it, and not a single chip, scratch, blemish, etc... And that was a cheap ass Patriot I got out the door for 18k, not a 40k Camaro.

::: sigh :::

Angry

The paint is B.S and I shouldn't have to keep fixing on my dime.

I know this is an ancient thread......but I gotta say, I thought I was one of the lucky ones having paid the extra bucks for " premium" paint ( inferno orange). Not so. Recently discovered bubbling on the front facia. No issues anywhere else, though. For me its no big deal, after 2 road trips across county, the facia was knicked up pretty good, as expected. But the bubbling is unacceptable. But I digress. $500 at my trusted dealer and they take it off and repaint. Wadda ya gonna do?

No way I would pay the dealer, who will likely use the same paint process as GM. Take it to an independent and reputable body/paint shop.

Blue Ray Metallic paint chipping here to! Chevrolet should address and fix the problem. I'm going to be taking the car to dealer soon. Will advise what they say.

Paint chips

Hi All,
My Wife has a 2011 RS and loves the car but, guess what? Yep, CHIPS in many places. She washes and waxes this car religeously as she did her 2008 Saturn Sky Turbo she had before this. Both were bought new. Maybe 2 or 3 chips on the Sky. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the chips on this car. NEVER had this problem before on a GM vehicle. Paint just came off my 77 Impala. She has not changed her driving habits and is a very good driver. NO tail gating so that is not the problem. If you want to blame all these problems on bad driving habits, then you are not reading ALL the post. This car HAS A PROBLEM!!!! Hope GM will admit some day they have a problem. Waited a hell of a long time to acknowledge the ignition problems, after many people were killed as a result. Should be held accountable but NEVER will. I amy be at the point of staying away from GM vehicles.
Enough said.
Have a great day All,
Ken

Just cleaned the car for the spring-ish weather and noticed around 20-50 good size dings and chips.. It's a shame that such a nice car has such bad paint. I'm not sure what I can do because its out of warranty and repaint would be too expensive...

At some point when it gets bad enough I'll probably wrap. In the meantime I guess it's just a touch up pen and hope it's not that noticable. :(

My 2013 SS looks like someone shot it with rock salt in front of the rear tires and all along the rocker panels. The car just turned a year old. I have not been back to the dealer since I bought it. I will have to take it in and see what they say? I am prepared to get the whole bottom half of the car painted over. I don't think a good polyurethane paint would chip like this new water based paint. We'll see what happens.

I wonder if different colors have the tendency to chip more than others? Anyone with a late model summit white experiencing this issue?

I have a 2014 Camaro 1le 2SS/RS in Bright Yellow. Bought the car in Jan 2014 and due to the bad weather only had an opportunity to drive it twice. I only have 241 miles on it. Before driving it I ensured any road salt had been cleared by recent rainfall and that pot holes had been fixed.

In those two trips I discovered 3 paint chips on the front fascia and 4 chips on the gills but only on the passenger side. How absolutely frustrating this is. These are not pin hole chips, they are 2-3mm and with the bumper being primed in dark grey, the chips are very noticeable with the bright yellow paint.

As many of you have mentioned, I have never owned a car in all my life (owned 14 cars of which 7 were brand new) that has chipped so easily. Spending almost 50K on a car that I'm reluctant to drive due to the crap paint job is really having me reconsider my purchase. I am considering have a clear bra installed on the front. I hope that helps.

I know GM is going through some major recall problems at the moment but they need to be addressing their current customers that are having some non-safety issues. We are not the standard Chevy customer, we are among the most passionate Chevy customers that are buying one of their top of the line vehicles. We are a group that belong to clubs, take to online forums and could be one of GM's biggest PR assets. By not even reaching out to us, or admitting a problem exists is disturbing and they risk losing a powerful voice in promoting an otherwise stellar vehicle.
