Quick question for you guys that own a Borla S-type axelback.

Did you guys notice a difference in the sound. I know the tone is going to be deeper, but is is actually going to get any louder ?
Thinking about getting the axelback and would like just a tad bit more noise to come from this mean machine. Nothing outrageous just a little louder.

lol yes it better for 600 damn bucks...the tone is orgasmic..The V8 it is VERY deep, VERY throaty...I will be adding headers to really get it going soon..

If you just want a moderate sound increase it is a great buy...make sure you go through a vender on this website...much better prices.

It will give you immediate tone and volume increase..it is not substantial when it is only axle back, but def noticable, def makes it sound like a V8. If you want a cheap, quick fix...that will do it...but again it will not make anyones ears bleed.

There are cheaper systsems out there..or get more for your buck, but I tell ya man...I think the Borla Tone is just friggin top notch

So you got the axelback not too long ago right. I remember following your thread about some question you had. What made you choose the axelback over the catback..price ??? Cause I could get the axelback now but i'd have to save a few bucks for the catback.

Absolutely louder and better. I installed it on my L99 SS and love it. Getting some headers and high flow cats soon to complete the setup. Check out this youtube link.

Borla S axle back and CAI brand intake. Me likey. A6 and tap shift makes her sound even better. Getting a bit deeper over time too.

I got my catback from www.LMPerformance.com

It was the lowest cost I could find online which was $1125 a bit less than what I thought I paid. I mentioned $1200 earlier.

I just did axle back....Yes, I did it because of the price. 599 on southerncarparts.com (C5 vender) and they are running a FREE shipping offer. I just threw 16k down on the car and had no money left. I worked some OT to get an immediate sound increase...I had too, I absolutely hated the stock sound. Made me feel like it wasn't a camaro in a sense...gotta have some girth lol. Now it has an amazing tone and beautiful hum to it when driving...

....the best, BEST friggin sound is start up. Holy s--- does start up sound awesome now. Even my girl who isn't big on vehicles that make 'too much noise' likes to have the windows down to hear it on start up or while driving...now that says a TON.

The S type axle back's tone is awesome and drone is very limited with the axle back. If you have the LS3 the cat back wouldn't be a bad buy for you...would NOT recommend it for the L99 until you tune out AFM.

I was like you...didn't want to wait to save an additional 500 for the mid pipes so I took the jump...don't regret it at all. If you are like me ...I personally wanted to save the extra 600 to put it towards Kooks headers. I am taking it very slowly, one step at a time...I wasn't sure if the S type would be too loud so I only did axle back. It is not too loud (so if you want something that just burns peoples ear drums you wont get it from this haha), so I am going to take the next step up to the headers but keep the H pipe to maintain my resonators in case it is really loud. I think I should be fine with that setup....

If you just want a tone increase with mild-moderate volume increase..axle back is a cost effective way of going and borlas tune IMO is just flat out sweet

I installed it myself. Was really easy just had to get a torque wrench to ensure I didn't over or under tighten the bolts. Took me 2 hours.
