whipple vs maggy??

Anybody got some good comparison data on these two? Interested to see why some people say the maggy has better volumetric efficiency than the whipple. Whipple claims 99%..... Differences in pully upgrade costs in whipple vs maggy? Output gains vs each other???

Thx!

At mild boost levels, the "efficiency" of the various latest edition belt driven blowers varies very little. The hybrid Roots blowers are pretty good. The stock Whipple is a bigger blower than the Maggie pumping more air. It's not hard to figure out why, when comparing stock vs stock blowers, that the Whipple makes more power. Compare them both at say 9ish psi. There won't be much difference. On an LS3 sized motor, the smaller blower will actually be stronger down low and give up very little on the top end. The 2.3L blower is an excellent match for a 6.2L motor. As you push things harder and the boost goes higher, the bigger blower will eventually have advantages. You probably won't find them on a stock motor.....at least not for very long

If I had to do it again I would go with Whipple. I'm not saying the Maggy is bad, I just feel the whipple is a great blower, does well on stock cubes and their is room to grow. I originally only wanted a 2300, and choose the Vortech-Lysholm because of its TQ curves. I'm very happy with my blower. But I wish I went with a Whipple now. I'm going to forge and stroke my motor soon. Then will come the problem where I run out of blower before motor.

Figure out your long term goals. I thought 650rwhp would be enough, and decided it's not. I'm seeing most people are maxing out 700rwhp range +\- 50 with 2300s.

I've had both and can say I picked up power when I switched to the whipple. On the same dyno I averaged close to 600rwhp with the Maggie and 3.6 pulley, switched to the whipple and averaged 650+rwhp on the 4.0 pulley. Both are good blowers and this debate will go on and on but I really like my whipple!!

When you installed the whipple did your boost go up?

The Maggie would need overdriven rear pulleys and a 3.7" front pulley to move the same amount of air as the Whip moves with a 4.0" pulley. Equip a Maggie like that and it would show some pretty comparable power numbers.

All of us in the forced induction section obviously can never have enough power so y not start off with a bigger blower with room to grow cause your eventually gonna want more. Haha i already want a ysi and havent even maxed out this novi1500 yet.

True, some never quit wanting more.....but, I'd bet the vast, vast majority either can't afford it, or have no desire to upgrade everything from the front bumber to the rear bumper to accomodate more power than a Maggie can make. Much over 700 and you need motor upgrades, clutch upgrades, tranny, rear end, etc. Saying "all" want to go that route isn't quite right.

No it stayed the same, both were around 8.5-9psi.

Both are good quality products. At the same boost level both have similar results.

Since this is your thread....what do you want your rig to do? Where do you want to be power wise? Are you thinking forged engine and drivetrain upgrades? It's kind of pointless to try to compare dyno sheets, etc. I have a dyno sheet showing 672 rwhp at a little over 8psi. I upped the boost to a little over 9psi and now have a dyno sheet showing 642 rwhp. If you figure it out, let me know

I'm more curious about the difference between the Manacharger 2300 and the Lyshom 2.3 liter(screw type vs roots type).
