Maaco Paint Job

Looking to get my car painted matte black soon. I called maaco and they gave me an estimate of 1800-2400 dollars.

Is this a bad way to go for a paint job? Anyone have any experiences with their work?

NO WAY

my experience with Maaco has been nothing but negative. I had a hood painted on a Laser back in the day and it was the worst hack job I have ever seen. You get what you pay for applies here...

Good luck.

Thanks. I felt like this was way too cheap for this paint job.

Why not a vinyl wrap?

That's what I'm most likely gonna get. I was just trying to find out if their paint jobs were any good.

While i'm knocking vinyl, a good wrap will cost you almost as much a decent paint job.

I bet the CAN do a decent job, especially if there isn't any repair work to do. Do they have any examples to look at?

A simple flat/matte vinyl for a Camaro should cost in the $2,500-$3K range. The best part is that it can be removed later for free if you want to go back to gloss.

You're better off reading up on how to do a paint job, buying all the tools and trying yourself than maaco. You'll do at least as good of a job.

I would DEFINATELY consider a wrap. I find matte paint to often look blotchy and inconsistent. The wraps look great if done right. Most important is that the matte appeals to few. If you ever want to sell the car your putting a pigeon hold on your market. Whereas with a wrap. You can give the option. Jmo.

I've seen maaco paint jobs in person. Don't waste your time or money. You'd be pretty much paying for them to paint over your existing paint without proper prepping or finishing. The amount of overspray and orange peel I seen on a coworkers mustang was appalling.

When going for a company that offers cheaper paint services I always found it better to do all the prep work myself. Fill, sand , etc. The closer you get it to pre-paint perfection the better chance the paint job comes out better.

I had a have used earl schieb but haven't used maacos ! But they're basically the same type of business! Earl schieb just take a lot less time like each of the times just took. 1 day . But ofcourse, all of the paint shops has gotten better since back in the old days, when these places was awful in painting! Everyone that has seen both of my Earl schieb paint jobs said that they couldn't believe it was a Earl shieb paint job.

Man I remember Earl Shieb! The commercials, I'll paint any car for 99.95!
Paint was probably blowing off as you drove away.( if you took the $99 buck option)
